btw! those who participated in previous beginners' challenges (and the last one was a while ago!) should now really be looking forward to the intermediate one as they surely are improving, aren't they?
Makes sense...Count me in for the intermediate then.
there's a video and tabs ready. i think it's a great beginners piece. if it's too short, we can add an easy but fun alzapua section or something.
one month to practice, record and upload. your anonymous upload will be judged based on technique, compas, and aire by a group of volunteer judges. often, the judges, along with a score, will give constructive feedback.
we can start as soon as we get enough competitors. we'll acquire judges and prizes as we go since we have a month.

a few of you have stated that you wanted to join but didn't specify what level.
I'll adjust my playing style to whatever level is needed, so I just pick the nicest piece

i would hate to see some stranger who we dont know anything about sign up for the forum, win the competition, take the prize, and then disappear forever.
Anthony, personally I don't care much about prizes, but would love to see some more contestants from the 3724 registered users.!.

hey kozz, how do you like the moraito tangos?
ok, mike, you're added. thanks for helping out, btw.
for prizes, i'm willing to donate to a strings by mail giftcard. shall we try the foro donation funds again?
or....
if we're desperate, i can offer to make a cejilla. i'll post a link to the ones i made before. the new ones will be improved though. i'm making conrad_p one and i can post pictures soon.
or....
if we're really desperate, i have a wireless printer and starcraft battle chest, a strategy pc game, and a collection of toe nail clippings that i'm trying to get rid of.
or...
if we're SUPER desperate, i can offer a skype lesson as long as the beginner doesn't play better than me.
i hope others will chime in with better prize ideas than me....

Its not that difficult, I like the added upstrokes by Ravenna (which are not in the original piece).
I do not want to overcomplicate things, but perhaps its another option to start with a few compases (at your own choice), then a predefined falsetta, and end with a few compasses/cierre (at your own choice).
Compas compas and compas is still the basic, which can be coloured with nice falsetta's, and IMO for beginners compas always needs to be part of a piece. I shall see if I can come up with something easy, but nice. Its just an idea, but if Moraito is the choice, than it is fine with me also!
As a price I would suggest a fine week at Sanlucar next year
BTW: Count me in for the beginners challenge. BTW2: And count MinorDjango also in!!!! , wheter it is on piano, flute or Úd

ok, great, we got two more contestants for the beginners challenge!
of course, compas is up to the challenger. as long as they eventually play the falseta. let's wait to hear what the other challengers have to say. then maybe we can extend the falseta with another section.
RE: time for another challenge? (in reply to at_leo_87)
yes leo_87.. if so I think I have plenty time to work even if i can't start the next week, but honestly I don't know what challenge I should enroll in , moraito isn't that hard I mean I can finish it in couple hours, therefore I think I wanna improve and test my self even if its going to be rough .. count me in for the intermediate challenge if its allowed , because its the first time I participate in this foro's challenges, if not I would still like to participate in the beginner challenge, thanx. Elie.

ok, veet, you're in!
cuerdas, i'd like to space out the challenges by two weeks. once the beginners challenge starts, we'll have two weeks to pick something. in the meantime, let's not jump ahead and risk letting people get a head start on practicing the piece.
im just giving more time for more people to join in. i'd like to start by monday. or if you're all ready, we can start tomorrow.

ok, so this actually works out great. you wont be missing any action. besides all the trash talking the beginners usually do.... have a nice trip and see you in a week!

Hey everyone,
I've been lurking on these forums for a few months now but have been having some trouble with my browser and logging in so I haven't made any posts. Anyway, I would be very interested in participating in the beginner challenge. If it's a problem that I haven't posted here before I don't mind not getting the prize either way as long as I can get some feedback on my playing. For me the biggest test will be figuring out the piece by ear.

RE: time for another challenge? (in reply to jeronimo)
hey jeronimo, welcome to the forum! there is a rule that you must be a member for at least one month before joining any challenges. this is to help prevent any strangers from coming in, entering a challenge that's too easy for them, winning the prizes and never returning to contribute to the forum. i hope you understand.
i've added you to the list as a maybe. if we procrastinate with the intermediate challenge long enough, you may be able to enter.
RE: time for another challenge? (in reply to at_leo_87)
what about the advanced challenge? i cant take part in the intermediate anymore coz i won the last one, and we set a rule to move on to the next level of challenge. so lets either do an advanced challenge or another cante challenge. we have alot of cante tracks now...

No prizes would prevent that and participation of strangers would only be positive for the competition and forum, and hopefully some of them would also stay.
I think no prizes come close to the recognition the winner gets.
