RE: time for another challenge? (in reply to Leendert)
the beginner's challenge will officially start this sunday and end monday october 4. how does that sound?
a 5 entry fee is a good idea. it'll help pay for prizes and keep non-serious people out. but it might discourage a lot of folks from entering. what does everyone else think?
no prizes has its benefits and drawbacks. i'd really like to get rid of my printer though.
advanced challenge: deniz xirdneH_imiJ
hey, i remember jason saying he'd do another cante challenge with yaelisa singing a solea.

Sounds great! I`ll be looking forward!

I personally really do not care for prizes, my reason for trying to join a beginner challenge is to see for myself if I can learn a new piece within the required time and if I`m at the level enough to do so. Also to hopefully get some pointers and comments from all you experienced players. I`m a beginner and all serious feedback will be more important to me. However if there is a decision made to charge a entry fee for whatever purpose, that would not turn me off to the challenge.

i'm against anything money related in the challenges...they're there to inspire us to improve and to test ourselves against each other, i don't think anyone really cares about a prize...and i really really think such thing would discourage people from entering...i will enter the advanced challenge regardless...

I'm cool with the no prize idea also. I am just up for the challenge and whatever makes the competition easier is probably better anyway. Not to mention I know I wont be claiming any prize this time anyway!

Anthony, I think you are finding out you can't please all the people all of the time. I think you should make a beginner challenge thread and set the rules etc and that is what we have to live with.
I only wish to add that I think we should get at least 6-8 weeks to work on the challenge, time flies quickly, especially with school and work starting for a lot of people.

I see it the same way. But when there is no prizes, we should be able to set up such a challenge super fast, and also more often than 1 or 2 times a year per level. Sort of quick informal challenge as somebody said. Shorten the falsetas so that contestants have no problem to learn it in 1 month or so. Make a challenge deadline every 2 months to be really sure everybody can do it and we will all have learned a huge bag of falsetas in one year!

I don't think there's ever been a problem with keeping 'non-serious' people out. Non issue. Anything that presents an obstacle to participation is a bad idea.
As for prizes, for me, that's a non-issue also. The process and the deadline and the feedback is what it's all about.

nope, the challenge piece hasn't been decided yet. actually, nothing about the intermediate challenge has been done yet.
sorry, organizing a challenge can be more trouble and time consuming than it seems. i might take part in the challenge. i think it'd be weird if i organized the challenge AND participated.

no problem bro I know it takes long time to be prepared and most of the foro members are busy with work ,studies or both I believe . anyway I just wanted to check if there is a thread I missed about the challenge apparently there is not regards, Elie
