quote:
To which Morante are you referring? The gentleman that posts on the foro here, aka, Sean O’Brian. He always keeps it real by posting cante videos and explaining to us all that this foro is a “guitar” foro, meaning, flamenco is cante based. The truth behind that sentiment is that he knows fully well that flamenco is a triad of cante, baile, and guitarra, and each can express flamenco in a “solo” capacity, but the general misunderstanding about the music, as if when decoupled from a singer, the guitar is totally free of SONG structure, leads people to under value the singer and the importance of the songs themselves. There is a reason to keep the singing alive and central to what flamenco actually is about.
