I kind of like the look of the Gotohs, something different for a change. Only found one source selling them online. And I read on the Delcamp forum that Scheller doesn’t sell retail anymore? Fred, tell us more about this new Castillo. Any pics or sound bites? Jason, I was able to purchase a set of Scheller tuners earlier this year, but I did buy them from a luthier who was selling a set online. Back in 2013 I was able to purchase a set directly from Scheller, but it sounds like that might not be option now. I went to the Scheller website yesterday, filled out the configuration order form and the end I did have to indicate if I was a company, luthier, or individual person. At least there's still an "individual person" option on the order sheet. We'll have to see if I hear back. No hurries and I might decide on the Gotohs, or as Ruphus suggested, I might want to consider ordering tuners with end bearings in case there's a hole alignment issue. I ordered the Castillo this past July, a few weeks before the big brouhaha regarding a Castillo delivery here on the foro. I purchased mine through Beau Bledsoe, who runs the Castillo website for Salvador. Anyway...basic order - spruce top, Mexican Cypress, 660/53. The good news for me is the guitar arrived in excellent shape, no finish issues from traveling in the heat, excellent set-up and intonation. I'm new to the flamenco guitar scene, but I've been privileged to own some really nice steel string and classical guitars for the past 20 years. The Castillo is amazing - it can roar like lion when pushed, but it sounds beautiful and balanced during quiet passages. Very easy to play on both hands and that's a big thing for me. I'll turn 60 next summer and ease-of-play is an important criteria for my aging hands. I've played it every day for the past 10 weeks and it's a joy each and every time. My Castillo story is a happy one. My only niggle are the tuners, but that's a very minor concern. I'll do my best to get a recording up in the next few weeks - may have to use my iPhone, but I'll give it a shot. I'll definitely post some photos. My Flamenco instructor is a formally trained classical guitarist (from Bulgaria, earned a degree in music performance at Southeast Louisiana University). He played the brand new Castillo for about five minutes, looked up, smiled, and told me it was finest guitar he's played. I actually sold him my Navarro Reyes, which he loves. He's a man of few words and he is astounded with the Castillo. Big giant thumbs-up for my Castillo Blanca!

Caution about guitars on beds or sofas might be based on similar empirics like with that leaning of guitars against walls. All kind of restings that can easily lead to serious regrets. (Me recalls someone describing how an acquaintance of his dropped himself on a bed under whichs cover there used to sleep a kitten. An even worse scene to imagine. The thought made me refrain from any throwing myself on a bed since.) And we had that story here on the foro about a flamenco artist dizzy seating himself on a stellar guitar -which he had just received and adored- on the back seat of his car. According to the teller it was irreparable. The hat thingy, so I read, ought to stem from times before and during world wars, when people were concerned about spreading of lice. (Something [lice in kindergartens] that started reoccurring in central Europe since about 30 years or so now. -Cockroaches, bedbugs and moths appear to be seeing a comeback too, while tropic mosquitoes and other [crop, tree and aqua] pests appear to explore by global trade, shipping, travel, migration and climate change as well. ) Even California, flourishing with exemplary farming due to absence of pests, appears to be gradually caught up. Just mentioning. Regarding drilled holes -provided accurate spacing- I assume putting in some protruding kind of sticks like pencils might help evaluating visually whether tuners might be affected. Fred, congrats to your special guitar! How did you experience your Schellers?
