Hello, I was wondering if anyone in this forum has played or owns a flamenco guitar made by Juan Montes Rodriguez? They are sometimes sold on eBay. I'm trying to get opinions on his flamenco guitars---he makes a blanca and a negra, solid woods. And I think Montes Rodriguez is the director of the Azahar guitar company. Any feedback would be appreciated. thanks.

BOOM! Is that new for you? Looks flashy and sounds great. Is that ebony on the sides?

Ah well, there was a fantastic passion there, in my case anyway. I discovered flamenco very early on. It grips you in a way that you can't get away - Paco Pena

I have his 36 Arce model and it is a beautiful guitar. Unfortunately the action was 3.5mm at the 12th fret with absolutely no room to take down the nut at the bridge. I wound up just commissioning a Navarro to be built and have been very happy with that guitar. From what I've read it seems that Montes ships these guitars with higher actions which is normally okay if you have room at the bridge to take it down yourself but my specific guitar did not have that luxury.

Hi folks - just an update about my cool JMR guitar... It got lost in the mail via UPS as I was having it returned to me from the New England after having sent it there to get some mods done (installing an electronics system). Therefore, I only got to play this guitar for a day or two and now it's forever perished. Hahahaha! Oh well...
