Hello, I was wondering if anyone in this forum has played or owns a flamenco guitar made by Juan Montes Rodriguez? They are sometimes sold on eBay. I'm trying to get opinions on his flamenco guitars---he makes a blanca and a negra, solid woods. And I think Montes Rodriguez is the director of the Azahar guitar company. Any feedback would be appreciated. thanks.

BOOM!
Is that new for you?
Looks flashy and sounds great.
Is that ebony on the sides?

Yup, new ax. Indeed, ebony.

Even the rosette is cool😃. Whats the body depth...about 3.5"?

Sounds good.

It's 3.5 inches at the upper bout, and 4-ish inches at the lower bout.

I have his 36 Arce model and it is a beautiful guitar. Unfortunately the action was 3.5mm at the 12th fret with absolutely no room to take down the nut at the bridge. I wound up just commissioning a Navarro to be built and have been very happy with that guitar. From what I've read it seems that Montes ships these guitars with higher actions which is normally okay if you have room at the bridge to take it down yourself but my specific guitar did not have that luxury.

Did you take it to a luthier so they could try to do some set up work?

Not yet, I plan on doing so in the near future though.

Hi folks - just an update about my cool JMR guitar... It got lost in the mail via UPS [:D][8D] as I was having it returned to me from the New England after having sent it there to get some mods done (installing an electronics system). Therefore, I only got to play this guitar for a day or two and now it's forever perished. Hahahaha! Oh well...
