(FULL DISCOGRAPHY LISTED ON PAGE 8)

Couple of more finds.
The "Trio de Aces" are part of a series of discs. I found another one with a track
by Nina de la puebla with Paco de Algeciras - Agua por canales (tientos)
1974 OLYMPO L-2

On Los Mejores Fandangos BELTER 22.468 another track by Paco and Fosforito
Dejar de Amarte.
On the back though is a picture to advertising another Fosforito album BELTER 22.362. with a full track list. Is this our missing Paco Album?
Yes it is....thanks to Brook from the Fosforito thread.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to mark indigo

Its crazy isnt it??? I thought this thread would be done weeks ago.

Firstly, its very easy to find second hand flamenco records here in Spain. There are boxes of them in second hand shops, charity stores, car boot sales, rastros and second hand book stores. Hardly anyone has a record deck now so if you are patient enough to look through them you can pick this stuff up fairly cheaply.

Secondly, I have been collecting stuff for many years now so most of the covers I post were found over the last 15 years or so. More recently I have been looking out for EPs.

The thing is that I have been surprised myself at the quantity of material and researching one record will lead to another. I think we will be finding Paco tracks on compilations and old EPS for many more months. There still a lot unaccounted for! I think we will have to give Pepe de lucia and El sevillano the same treatment as Fosforito.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to danilo

Fantastic....thats exactly the sort of stray track we are looking for. I have never heard of this album or this track.

I dont have any original Rocio Durcal EPs but I found this CD in a Gas station for 1.99
that has three Paco tracks on it. Mind you it was strange to listen to in the car. Most of her stuff is Spanish 60s pop that sounds like a mix between Doris day and the Austin powers soundtrack....with the ocasional blinding Paco falseta mixed in. Worth getting for the tracks though!!
Rocio Durcal - Sus 20 Grandes Exitos 2008 OK RECORDS CD-1245

Also this strange LP... a promotional record that you would get free with a Colour Philips TV in the 1970s. Contains 2 tracks I have not heard before with Ramon de Algeciras, Enrique Jimenez, Paco Cepero, Isidro de Sanlucar and Julio Vallejo
Paco de Lucia - Philips Televisor K9 Color. 1975 PHILIPS 6328171

At this point I find myself asking this question
If paco was playing concerts over 100 dates per year...how on earth did he have time to make so many recordings? Its like he had 3 lives!

Ricardo posted a track by Juan Cantero and Paco de lucia earlier. I have found that it comes from a whole Album (12 tracks) LP 1970 FONTANA

You can listen the tangos here

I finally tracked down the EP on the back of the Carmen Moreno recording.

Pepe de Algeciras with Paco and Ramon (7" EP) POLYDOR 343 FEP
Malagueñas - De mi larga enfermedad
Bulerias - Desterrado me fui para el sur
Tientos - Pesaba este cuerpo mio
Solea de Alcalá - La muerte pedia yo

Note: Track 2 which is listed as a bulerias on the disc is actually an Alegrias

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

This post is a bit more complicated. The discography already lists the album La Singla“Festival Flamenco Gitano” 1968 PHILIPS 844 331 PY.
I think I have this album as a reissue PHILIPS 79 397. I assumed these were the same recording but now I am not so sure.
The sessions from 1968 from Germany have appeared on other compilations like this one but not with the Paco de lucia tracks.
http://www.amazon.com/THE-FLAMENCO-VARIOUS-Korean-Imported/dp/B00CH8BI3G/ref=sr_1_cc_3?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1403002985&sr=1-3-catcorr&keywords=emocion+flamenco

Festival FLamenco Gitano PHILIPS 79 397 contains 2 tracks featuring Paco one of which is a Rondena that I have not heard anywhere else.

To confuse the issue there is another series of Discs called Festival Flamenco Gitano. I believe there are 4 in total. (EDIT: This is a mistake on Wikipedia. There are 3 volumes and there is no volume 4)
They were recorded in 1968 but released in the 1980s.
Volume 2 has no Paco tracks. Volume 1 does but am searching for track listings and I have no information for volume 4.
However I tracked down volume 3 which contains 7 Paco tracks including new variations on solo Solea and Alegrias.

Festival Flamenco Gitano 3 1986 L+R RECORDS LR 44.015

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

it's pretty simple.

Fetival flamenco gitano 3 was a studio recording from 1968. He plays Alegrias and Rondeña as solos, accompanies Perrate por tientos (fantastic version) and backs up Cepero on one buleria. The other tracks are cepero and a guy named pepin salazar. there is a video that goes with this where we hear these two solos as the audio and it's play back to Paco at a dock and riding in a row boat. Also you see Tati dancing rumba and buleria to Cepero guitar and Lebrijano...also play back to these recorded tracks.

Festival Flamenco Gitano 1 was a LIVE concert, one of my favorite albums all time. 1969. It is ALL Paco cepero playing and it's fantastic work....especially the cante solos of Maria Vargas and Camaron. Paco de Lucia only plays two solo pieces...blistering precise renditions of Guajiras and Panaderos.

Thanks for the info...do you have Festival flamenco Gitano 1 as an album or CD?
Do you have the video as well?
Can you post the recording serial number for the discography?

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

Here is the documentary. It's so well filmed I had to wonder if the record "Festival Flamenco Gitano 3" was made to deliberately go WITH the documentary (sort of like Carlos Saura soundtracks).

http://youtu.be/Yjd1ID-OmwI

there is a second part that has singla dancing tientos etc, but PDL is not featured anywhere in it.

Festival Flamenco Gitano 1 I have on CD, a 1994 reissue on "just a memory" records JAM 9119-2, original copyright info says (P) 1969 L+R Records

The original track info claims PDL accompanies Camaron por fandangos, clever marketing ploy, but it is clearly Cepero.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

I found this disc in a second hand book shop for a couple of Euros.

Recuerdos de España (Numero 5) 1964 PHILIPS P 13 181 L

Its actually a pretty good flamenco compilation with 2 duets by Paco de Lucia and Ricardo Modrego. More interesting is a 3rd Track "Jaleos Extremeños" of by Antonio "El Camborio" featuring R. Vigaray and Paco de Lucia on Guitar.

After a bit of searching I found that it comes from another 4 track EP
Antonio "El Camborio" - Juerga en el Colmao PHILIPS 430 993 PE
Tracks: Tangos de Badajoz / Mirabas / Nana / Jaleos Extremeños

A forth track on the record "El Niño feo" features Manolo Lopera and F. Sánchez
Could this also be a Paco de Lucia track? It turns out that the F is not for Francisco
but Fernando Sánchez, another player from that time.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

Having gone from fairly confident that this thread would be pretty definitive after a few weeks I am now slightly worried that it will take the rest of my natural life to complete. There is still a lot more stuff to list.
Starting with material already listed, I found a pretty good copy of Soñadores de España by Placido Domingo 1989 CBS 4660771 (SE) over the weekend.
Actually a very nicely produced album with colaborations with Ernesto Bitetti, Julio Iglesias and Paco de Lucia.

Also got a copy of Bryan Adams "Have you ever really loved a woman" CD single with quite a good candid of Paco and Bryan rehearsing.
....yeah, yeah, I know but its on the list and had to brought up sooner or later. Actually it really brought Paco to a new audience worldwide. The official video is easy enough to track down...featuring Paco himself.

In April 1995 this was performed live on UK TV "Top of the Pops" with Paco and Adams in the studio, as far as I can tell the only time they performed it live together.....however I cannot find a link anywhere to that video including the BBC TOTP webpage. If anyone has a link to that live video then please post it or upload it to youtube.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

Now entering the realm of the obscure. Ricardo posted 2 styles of Malagueña by Juan de la Loma and Paco de Lucia from an anthology.
Those tracks come from this 4 track EP

Juan de la Loma - Cantes de Malaga 1965 HISPAVOX HH 16-501
Guitarra: Paco de Algeciras
4 tracks are
Castigo (Malagueña de "El Canario")
Gotas de Sangre (Bandola con verdial)
Mis Quebrantos (Malagueña de Chacon)
La virgen Madrina (Jabera)

Since other tracks also credit Paco de Algeciras I decided to switch my searches and this reveals yet another wealth of recordings.

First up is a 4 track EP by (Roque Montoya) Jarrito 1964 COLUMBIA SCGE 80.925
4 tracks are
Luna y sol (Zambra) Juan Carmona and Paco
No me Hechas en Olvido (Bulerias) Juan Carmona and Paco
La Llamó (cantes de Malaga) Juan Carmona and Paco
Una Juala de Cristal (Fandanguillos) Paco de Algeciras

(back covers to both recordings are in the attachments)

Here is a great Youtube find of Paco and Jarrito performing Tientos/Tangos together

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

To add to the list of Paco de Algeciras is this interesting LP.
Tablao Flamenco 1967 PERGOLA 50113 B
Features guitars of R. Vigaray and Paco de Algeciras.

A little more research and I found more related tracks on yet another unlisted EP with Paco and "El Tupe" (Paco clearly on the cover)
Olé con Olé "El Tupe" PHILIPS 430 994 PE

Here is a great Youtube find of Paco and Jarrito performing Tientos/Tangos together

Really enjoyed that, thanks for posting it.

Been a fascinating thread so far.

The Camaron Dilemma!

I found a Vinyl reissue of The 3rd album by Paco and Camaron (Son tus ojos dos estrellas) on the label Cantabile DISCOLIBRO 7313. If we consider the original albums by Camaron and Paco plus their reissues, The Eps (listed), plus compilations, plus promotional recordings plus recordings featuring Paco and Camaron on at least one track...we are going to end up with a vast amount of material. I have been kind of trying to ignore this issue for time being but will add any other Camaron recordings as they come up (unless someone else wants to list this material )

I have added two more compilations to the Discography
Camarón - Antologia (3 Cd set) MERCURY 532 929-2
Le Chant du Monde - Camaron de la Isla (19 track compilation) LDX 274 957

These next two LPs are already listed. The first one is In memorium Niño Ricardo POLYDOR 2480 140, now very hard to find on vinyl. Its a compilation of different players paying tribute to the Maestro. Paco plays only one track which is the Alegrias "Esencia Gitana", however it is executed in a way only Paco could do. I consider my own arpeggios to be pretty good but the Arpeggio section in the latter part of this composition is frankly super human!!

Lastly the PHILIPS Vinyl version of Paco de Lucia and Ramon de Algeiras en HispanoAmerica which has a much nicer cover (IMO) than the CD reissue. According to Discogs there are 5 versions of this album.
En Hispanoamérica ‎(LP, Album)1969 Philips 843.199 PY Spain
En Hispanoamérica ‎(LP, Album, RE) 1979 Philips 58 43 199, 843.199 PY Spain
En Hispanoamerica ‎(Cass, Album)1980 Philips, PGP RTB 5720095 Yugoslavia
En Hispanoamérica ‎(LP, Album) Philips LPR 15194 Mexico Unknown
En Hispanoamérica ‎(CD, Album, RE, RM) 1996 Philips, Universal 0731451002922 Spain
