Angel Lopez CF1246 S (a product by S...

(A small note: the Cordoba has somewhat older / more worn out strings on it as compared to the Stagg guitar)

Make sure to watch in HD 720p for best audio / video quality.

I found an interesting deal on eBay that I didn't want to pass up, especially that the scale length of the flamenco guitar was 646 mm (which would finally allow me to experience what a shorter scale length guitar would feel like which was still 4/4 size and not "parlor" size). So I went ahead and bought this guitar:

Angel Lopez CF1246 S (a product by Stagg)

You can find it here:

http://tinyurl.com/84vf8p6

The guitar sounds pretty decent for the price and brand. Someone on a budget might want to consider it. I like having two guitars so I can go back and forth between them to "change scenery" every now and then. I am still trying to get used to the somewhat smaller dimensions of the guitar as compared to more "standard" dimension guitars. I really like the instrument though, and it does well despite being made in China. I guess I just like guitar so much that I enjoy playing any instrument, but really, if you are on a budget (and want a bit smaller size guitar for whatever reason), consider this option.

Cheers!

PS: Comments about anything?

PPS: I am not having any time to practice because I just have too much work and get back home late only to sleep most of the time. So obviously, my playing is still rusty, but I'll keep trying to get a bit back in shape (which even in my best form is not superb, but still... )

Ramzi,

You have nothing to apologize for regarding your playing. You are an amazing guy. Learning flamenco guitar while attending medical school, and now interning in a hospital with all the long hours you must put in. You have already accomplished more in your short span of life than many do in their entire lives! And after you set up practice, there will be plenty of time to perfect your flamenco. Rejoice, oh multi-talented one!

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Ramzi,

I just want to say that you ROCK on BOTH flamenco guitars!!!

Your playing is AMAZING and I am a BIG fan!!!

I hope to play as you as you someday!

You know you are acomplish when you can make a Cordoba and Stagg guitar sound like an expensive guitar!!!

I like both, but, I think I like the Stagg a tad bit better in sound...

AWESOME PLAYING!

I like the Angel Lopez more. To me the Cordoba sounds too much classical, but it's my subjective opinion.

First 12 seconds of the first video - my thoughts were : "Letter to Dana flamenco version?! ah no , its Greensleeves" ;)

The fingerboard on the cordoba seems dry, maybe you should oil it.

guitar played in top video is cheap and junky sounding. The guitar in second video played first is not bad, at least sounds flamenco.

The pale one with the dehydrated fingerboard is the cordoba, right? I think that one sounds better too, the yellow one sounds like a polyurethane box, pretty much like my guitar before I stripped the varnish

These are nothing compared to the cheap Paco Castillo i played recently.
So there are much better guitars for the money now out there.
Good playing and info videos though, as always.

bRO, You need a good guitar. You should buy my Sanchis that is for SALE AND STOP PLAYING WITH JUNK!!! You are way too talented to waste your time on cheap instruments.....

I practice now for about 8 month on a 400$ guitar and leave my 4100Euro Lopez in its box. Im perfectly fine with that. The cool thing, it has same measurements like my Hrms. Sanchis. So I can switch back and forth without adjusting my playing. It only feels weird to switch to conde measurements from that one. The string spacings are a little bit wider on conde and Lopez than on Hrms. carpio and thats already an issue for some kinds of arpeggios.

U don´t need an expensive guitar for practice I just found out. All u need is a practice guitar with the same settings like your lets say "concert" guitar. Like that u can switch back and forth without loosing time for movement adjustment on different instruments. Well theres actually no point in not using you concert guitar... Im saving the strings on that one cos I wanna record something very soon and dont want to buy new strings. ..Yeah...there is a little scottish guy inside of me. lol

I agree with Rumbaking! Way too talented is right, but, at least he makes them cheap guitar sound GREAT!

Ramzi, I would take Rumbaking up on his offer

Thank you for the input, everyone. I think the Stagg can handle some filing down of the saddle. I might or might not do that.

Cheers!

Unfortunately it's a 660mm scale length instrument...

Hey Ramzi

I think the stagg sounds pretty good for its price.

Also, I think rumbaking has a very good lopez. From watching videos i can tell It has heaps of power and response. It will be a good buy for someone.

Who better to buy a guitar from rumbaking than el rumbero himself?

Nice playing as well! Some nice material you have now.

You made me laugh when you hit the open a instead of the open e. It sounds so bad, especially in solea. I have done that so many times over the years that every time i hear it it has a strange effect on me. It's like a tune that you never want to hear again that keeps popping up. whenever i do it I think , I can't believe i still do that! It's especially funny when a pro gets caught out by it. I'm sure every flamenco guitarist knows the sound of that mistake.

Mate, don't let the 660mm scale put you off; you'll get used to it.
Get Scott's guitar, you won't regret it. HSL guitars are great, a lot of volume and power.

Good luck anyway.
A

I also use my 300 euro japanese beach guitar with 1 year old Daddarios for practicing. Same measurements as Doit said.

Then when i switch to my Sanchis , its feels and plays like butter.

So yep, its a good idea to practice with a crap guitar. Not too crap though.

One of my students who is on a budget took a chance and ordered one. He just came for a lesson so i had a try of the stagg.

I must say that i was impressed. For the money it is a very nice guitar. Nice sound for flamenco and a good set up. The holes in the bridge were drilled nice and low so it has plenty of angle left with a low action.

The intonation was pretty good as well. The playability felt good and i felt like playing it some more. It was brand new so i think it will get even better.

When compared to what he could have purchased in a shop here for the same price, he made an excellent choice IMO.

I'm expecting my check to arrive in the mail soon.

Incidentally on the topic of the same instrument - I lowered the saddle yesterday, and the guitar now plays much much easier and still sounds great with no buzzing. Clearly no match for the HSL, but still a nice beater instrument.

Actually it was from me showing him your video that convinced him to get it. I noticed that the seller has sold 2 now. So we should both get a check from him
