RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to Florian)
haha i'm guessing something happens to the compas around the picado section. i didn't know you could do that. i thought the compas always had to be straightforward. a vein in my forehead is about to burst
can i get another hint as to what the heck is going on?

I cant download the tabs... could someone host it or upload it on the foro?

its the faucher version ..i think he transcribed the whole album and made it Into a book..
You´re right... I own it... Ill check the tab from the book...
QUESTION:: Florian, could you upload an endless track of the bulerias loop? Im lacking a good loop for doing the record. I always play with metronome only,..

you want me to email it to you?

sure ...the complete audio starts on 12 and ends on 10
can you at least just confirm my suspicion that the compas is resetting at some point? everything else fits together. there's just some weird anomaly around the picado section.

RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to Florian)
hmmm... okay. so the picado section, the last note lands on 4. after 6, the c chord (e chord with capo at fourth fret) starts on 1. from there on, it's smooth sailing. yeah?
RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to Florian)
We still need the percussion loop you used in the audio. The jaleos are pretty useful. The percussion is an important part to get something grooving.. So I would like to have the same you used.
By the way, Florian great work. You put much effort in this challenge and its good for many players. It gives a good fun for practicing! And the sample you played is let me say ****ing great! Really smooth playing Florian!
And its extremely nice of Jason and the other person who spends a cejilla (sorry, I didn't find the name of him). I cant believe such nice acting. I'm flattened!! Great! Ole to you all!
RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to Doitsujin)
Important with the picado is to start just after the 10 and hit the 12 with the pull-off dead on. What comes after that with the half compas and the contras is tough.
I play this falseta all the time which I think disqualifies me...

John come on... get in! Yes the falseta isnt that hard.. but to let a staight flaseta like this swing is not easy. There is not much space to give it something personal... so in the end it will be hard to decide a winner. Im shure all players will do a great job! And its pure fun! I just saw me on the list,.. so Im in. Who can say no, when invited? But I will also enter the advanced challenge.
By the way, somewhere in the last couple of compases is a media one. So dont wonder if the falseta seems to end on 6.
RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to at_leo_87)
Good boy! You can also become a judge... than you are not allowed to play.. I also think you are above intermediate level... to keep it fair,.. you should be a judge John. (No joking here.)
And yes.. I dont know what I want in general... Im always changing my opinion.... :./

that's what i thought at first. thanks. but i'm still confused. when i write it out that way and count, the compas at the end is off. it ends up ending on 4.
It is called "half compas". Rather than try to find where exactly it occurs, simply think in 6's ALL THE TIME. That is how I feel bulerias all the time anyway. 2 sixes make 12 , but you dont' have think so hard about making it work out in groups of 2 all the time.
Still confused, read up in the archives about "medio compas" or "half compaes" or "6's in bulerias" etc.

Ricardo
compas is hard and complicated enough! now i have to learn half compas? this must be why i lose track while doing palmas here and there. this song does actually seem like it would be easier to count if i do it in 6's. i'll give it a try. thanks!
still though, i'd like to see how this would look like if it was written out. just because i'm ocd like that. i'll post what i make of it and hopefully some can correct me?
RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to at_leo_87)
No you don't have to learn half compas, more know that you can use the first half of the compas or the second half as often as you want when playing a falseta

darn if i count in six's, what about the accents that would normally be on 3, 8, and 10? it's not symmetrical, know what i mean? i wish i could find that medio compas thread. i bet i wouldn't be so confused.
RE: Challenge, Intermediate Thread (in reply to at_leo_87)
Leo,
i honestly would count everything until sec 31 or so as 3s or 6s. Not in 12. After that point a different passage is coming namely the picado. And for that i would just focus on the 12 to get a lead in. After that i feel it in 2s (i dont count it though), until the end, which is for me always the 10 (because he starts on 12 afterwards), no matter if its really the 10 or 4.

It is quite simple if you FEEL 8 and 10 as the beat, but ACCENT 9. notice how the palmas do just that. Then 9 and 3 take on the same feel.

any tips for the rasgeado
Do you have the Encuentro from Moraito? He does a-m-i-i-a-i-i-a-i-i ending i up. I do it i-i-a-i-i-a-i-i-a-i ending i down, not sure if there's an advantage to the other way.
You can try getting the thumb in which is a lot easier, but you can hear the difference - it's not as tight.

Thanks John! I can do it the way he does it in Buleriando, with iaiaiiai ... but i dont get the sound he has, the kind of floating sound. But it looks doable, lets see. Im really curious to see the results/interpretations!
