It is a good x-ray of what happens here in Spain, it is very difficult to survive as a guitar maker here, the government does not support crafts, all politicians are corrupt and incompetent, there is no difference between parties.

I suppose everybody here in the foro bear a special feeling for Granada or has some memories to tell, as I. In this case I think the matter is to see recognised at an institutional level the historical role of Granada for guitar making and his actual international relevance.
No idea how much this will have an impact on the sales of guitars made in Granada or will have just a cultural value.
Granada aside, there is a general problem with the worldwide market of quality handmade guitars, wherever they are made. Some of the problems are the lack of culture about quality handmade stuff, competition with serially made guitars made in cheaper countries, and the difficulty to advertise and compete correctly in the worldwide business: the role of the dealers is just the last problem: it’s not easy to sell in these days.

Simon, I would be interested in knowing what you mean by the above-cited quote. Are you suggesting the flamenco guitar makers themselves need to put themselves out there more, advertise their product so to speak? Or are you suggesting that the city government needs to place more of an emphasis on Granada being a "cradle" of flamenco guitar making, perhaps even subsidizing the luthiers to a certain extent?

Yes, in whatever way. Flamenco is highly valued by tourists to Granada. More effort in marketing and presentation could be made.
