RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

(FULL DISCOGRAPHY LISTED ON PAGE 8)
http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=253824&mpage=8&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1&key=

Here is another Fandangos de Huelva LP. It has 3 tracks with Paco de Algeciras.
One with Niña de la Puebla, one with Lolita Valderrama and a third track with both Aldefa Soto and Pepe Soto (Por la Verea).
This track is not on either of Adelfa Sotos EPs or on the Pepe Soto EP. Its definately Paco playing so that means there is another missing EP out there somewhere.
I found the track here but the record cover on the video is incorrect.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

The essay also says in 1966 Paco recorded 5 EPs with Pepe de Algeciras, Carmen Moreno, Chato de La Isla, Gaspar de Utrera and Manuel Soto "Sordera". We have all these listed and so there is no need to search for more from those artists at that time.

It also Lists 2 recordings with Rocio Jurado (COLUMBIA SCGE 81388 and SCGE 81340) We already have 81340 listed. I tracked down the recording 81388 but Paco is definatley not on that EP as its mainly a piano acompaniment. I checked the whole of Rocio Jurados discography. Ramon de Algeciras played on SCGE 81379 but I could find no other recordings featuring Paco.

It lists 3 important recordings from 1964, the EP with El Camborio and the LP Juerga Flamenca which we have listed. It also lists an EP by Niña Brenes and this is one of the recordings that was on Ricardos list. Finally I know where that Sevillanas track came from.

Niña de Brenes (4 track EP) 1964 PHILIPS 430 992 PE

EDIT 05/03/15 I found a track listing for the Nina de Brenes EP
Niña De Brenes - Por Lo Mudable (Sevillanas) 3:03
Niña De Brenes - Virgen Del Rocío (Fandangos De Huelva) 2:30
Niña De Brenes - Se Corta Una Rama Verde (Fandangos De Huelva) 3:15
Niña De Brenes - Qué Alegre Es La Tierra Mía (Alegrías) 3:08

Its extremely rare, I cant even find a photo of it but at least I know now that it exists and can try to track it down.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

To return to our missing EPs, the essay lists the EP by Rocio Durcal and then 16 tracks on 4 EPs with Jarrito.
We already have 2 of them listed. The other 2 were harder to find but now we have 8 more tracks and that is like discovering a whole new album.
Again its the blazing dual guitars of Paco and Juan Carmona (Habichuela).
I am surprised that there was not a Jarrito LP or that any of these tracks have been released onto CD.
Really excellent playing and a great find. This now completes our material with Jarrito.

As a side note I should mention that many of the Jarrito EPs (that dont have Paco) have very similar or almost identical looking covers.
You need to check the index number on the sleeve.

Jarrito - Desde La Una a La Una (4 track EP) 1964 COLUMBIA SCGE 80.928
Jarrito - A Una Carcel Fui a Parar (4 track EP) 1964 COLUMBIA SCGE 80.929

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

A couple of covers I havent yet uploaded. The familiar covers to "friday night in San Francisco" (1981) and "Passion Grace and Fire" (1983) featuring Al Di Meola, John Mclaughlin and Paco. Friday night in San Francisco is still to this day one of the best selling instrumental guitar albums ever and reached number 6 in the 1981 billboard top jazz albums. According to critic Walter Kolosky "... [it] may be considered the most influential of all live acoustic guitar albums"
Despite its criticism from both Flamenco and Jazz purists as pretentious, self indulgent virtuosity, it has become almost iconic today and essential listening to guitarists of every style of playing.

"The Guitar Trio" released a later album in 1996 and recorded a seperate track "El Ciego" for John Mclauglins "The Promise" at around the same time. I consider that track to be kind of an extension to the trio CD.

On the subject of Flamenco Jazz here is the cover to the (unlisted) reissue from 1981 of Pedro Iturraldes classic album from 1968.
The original HISPAVOX LP in mint condition is now worth several hundred dollars.

I discovered that there were a total of 3 EPs recorded with Juan de la Loma and Paco de Algeciras. We listed two of them already.
Here is the third one making a total of 12 tracks. We now have a fairly comprehensive listing of all of the EPs and colaborations recorded in the 60s and 70s.

Its now one year since Paco passed away and I'm trying to bring this thread to some kind of conclusion. Here are a few more additions.
Firstly the covers (already listed) to the 2 LPs by Al Di Meola.
Electric Rendezvous has the track "Passion, Grace and Fire" and Elegant Gypsy has "Mediterranean Sundance" both with Paco.

Just to update the Enrique Montoya section, I uploaded the original 1970 LP and the 1985 re-issue.
The original 12 track LP was repackaged as "Flamenco Romantico" and also released as re-issue on the Discophon Label.
The date on the disc is 1970 but the cover is clearly much more modern and was probably released in the 80s.

I also realise I forgot to add Richards (xirdneH_imiJ) CD - El puente from page 2.

So just when you thought it could not be humanly possible for any more unlisted colaborations out there, here is yet another one, hopefully the last.
Its a 4 track EP with singer and humorist Manolo de Vega and the dual guitars of Paco de Lucia and Remolino Hijo. After nearly a year of researching I still keep stumbling upon this type of uncatalogued material.
Paco de Lucia, an artist whose recording career appears even in death to be as vast and surprising as his creativity when alive.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

After completing the discography with Lolita Valderrama I wanted to check if Paco had recorded with Juan or Juanito Valderrama. His discography is pretty large but I couldnt find any collaborations and then I came across this unusual LP

Juanito Valderrama y Paco de Lucia LP 1979 SAEF SL-2029

However, its a bit of a con because Paco plays yet again the Tarantos and Soleares populares (yawn) and all the other tracks have Ramon accompanying Juan Valderrama. The only exception is the last track "Por Culpita del Dinero" which is credited to Paco de lucia, Ramon de Algeciras and Juan Maya Marote accompanying guitar. I was very excited to listen to this track and possibly find more material.
The extrordinary thing is that this track is a Martinete and there are no guitar parts. This track is listed several times on the net with Paco de Lucia and Juanito Valderrama even though its a solo track with no guitarist. I listed this LP under albums in which Paco plays at least one track.

The only recording I can find with Paco accompanying Juanito Valderrama is a taranta called "A mi Tierra de Linares" released in 2003. However Paco recorded the guitar part after the death of Juanito Valderrama. The track is here.

I now realise why the CD cover to Fantasia Flamenco always looks a bit cheap and nasty.
Its because the original record cover has gold in it that is simply printed in yellow on the CD.
The original golden record cover is very splendid.

This is a true rarity
As far as i know, the only Paco de lucia´s Laser Disc ever released (Besides "Meeting of the spirits of the first guitar trio, which has a terrible quality image that jumps all the time, like a bad filmed audience recording)
As a fan of this extinct video format, I´d really love to have it!

Wow...thanks for that. It occured to me that some stuff could be on Laser disc but this is the first time I have seen any of Pacos material on one.
I will add it to the miscelllanous section.
If you can resize these photos to 500 pixels it will fit better and make the thread easier to read.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

On the top of this page I posted a Fandangos de Huelva LP featuring a track by (brother and sister) Adelfa Soto and Pepe Soto accompanied by Paco de Algeciras.
I have found another LP with another new track by the same combination of artists.
Juega Flamenca contains the track "Te tengo a ver" by Adelfa Soto and Pepe Soto.
That is 2 new tracks which means there has to be another EP out there which has not been listed or even mentioned before in regard to Pacos work.

Juerga Flamenca LP (contains "Te Tengo a Ver") 1974 OLYMPO L-41

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

After a fairly difficult search I finally tracked down the missing EP and here it is.

Adelfa Soto y Pepe Soto - Acompañados de Orquesta (4 track EP) 1964 BELTER 51.113

It was hard to find because (apart from being rare) it looks like all the tracks would be accompanied by orchestra.
In fact only 2 tracks are orchestral and the other 2 are accompanied by Paco.
This is the source of our 2 new tracks. We now have a total of 8 tracks by Adelfa and Paco, 4 tracks with Pepe and Paco and 2 tracks with both Adelfa and Pepe.
This makes a total of 14 tracks.
I am feeling very pleased with myself as this is a new discovery and the first time that these tracks have been fully catalogued.

Our new section of discography looks like this

WITH ADELFA SOTO AND PEPE SOTO
Adelfa Soto - Paco de Lucia and Ramon de Algeciras 1975 OLYMPO L-49
Adelfa Soto "La luna y el Toro" (7" EP) 1964 BELTER 51.119
Adelfa Soto - Mi Adelfita (7" EP) 1964 BELTER 51.114
El Mundo del Flamenco (contains "Mi Adelfita" by Adelfa and Paco)1972 GRAMUSIC GM-145
Trio de Ases 1972? OLYMPO L-53
Pepe Soto - Sin Fronteras ( 4 track EP) 1964 BELTER 51.097
El Alma de La Copla vol.3 LP (contains 2 Pepe Soto tracks) 1974 OLYMPO L-243
Adelfa Soto y Pepe Soto - Acompañados de Orquesta (4 track EP) 1964 BELTER 51.113
Fandangos de Huelva LP (contains "Por la Verea")1974 OLYMPO L-142
Juerga Flamenca LP (contains "Te Tengo a Ver") 1974 OLYMPO L-41
