RE: Collecting for a wreath - UPDATE (in reply to Escribano

I don't have an update on AC's progress with the wreath at the moment. Hopefully, I will be talking to her today. As you can imagine, she has been very busy at this difficult time.

However, I can reveal that we have collected around £700 GBP! This is amazing and very, very generous of you.

This is more than enough for flowers, so we are going to put some by for a lasting memorial to Ron that we can discuss here a little later. Whether that be a prize fund for forum challenges or a 'scholarship' in his memory, we don't know yet.

If you want to continue donating, that is fine. I will look after it and report back.

RE: Collecting for a wreath for the ... (in reply to Argaith

I think morticians are cashing in quite some these days. ( I saw parts of a report on this branch and its partial business ethics in Germany, assuming that it might not be all too different in the rest of the world. - And a relative who "took the burden" to organize the funeral of my mother managed to fabricate a bill of around 100 000 bucks allegedly for buying a burrying lot / memorial stone and for feeding mourners in a better hotel; but that one has been a special case of betrayal of trust I guess.)

From there my suggestion would be to prophylactically ask AC how she is coming along with the expenses, and in case of struggle maybe leave the rest of donation to her disposal.
Just thinking.

AC and I have already discussed this possibility, so thanks for the support. We'll see how it all pans out.

RE: Collecting for a wreath for the ... (in reply to Argaith

Sorry I haven't gotten back with an update about the wreath sooner! There has been a lot going on and I encountered a few unexpected hurdles a long the way. However, they have been dealt with and progress is being made. I've called the florist about the guitar wreath and emailed a few pictures to make sure they get it right - don't want to end up with a wreath in the shape of a Warlock!

I'm waiting for a call back at some point today.

They emailed me back today and said that they could do a full size guitar wreath for £120, any other requests for the wreath? (E.g make the guitar bigger?)

They said I have to let them know by tomorrow, so if you have any last minute suggestions get them in now!

What do we want the message on the wreath to say? I told the florist I'd call her back as soon as I know!

Do you mean on the card or a message spelt out in flowers?

That's good, I would add in "family, friends, and friends of foroflamenco"....

On the card, Simon, sorry I didn't make it clearer!

Sounds like a winner to me Giacomo and Ricardo! Is this fine for everyone else? I'll be phoning the florist back in about 20 minutes. But this sounds perfect to me.

thank you, and please forgive me if I reacted to AC's request independently, but my brain functions better in the early hours of the day (later, I could not start a sentence without some "Notwithstanding the hereinabove aforementioned...")

Whilst I would generally defer, in this respect, to my learned friend, it would be remiss of me not to remind him of the responsibility that he has taken upon himself to pursue the utmost financial reward from the gratuitous expansion of simple, written English. Without such a commitment, our entire legal edifice would collapse.

Once again I must defer to your impeccable judgement. In my youth (when the Bar was beckoning) I could argue the hind leg off a donkey whilst smoking, riding a motorcycle and drinking from a can of beer as I wound my way through South Kensington coming back from a date with some posh totty.... and in fact, I often did.

They still speak of you across King’s Bench Walk, at the “wig and feathers” club, as the feared wig of the Old Bailey
