RE: Ron's favourite music please (in reply to Escribano)

I know he was into some guitar-based sixties blues/folk stuff, Bert Jansch, that sort of thing. We once got into a discussion about Jackson C. Frank, about whom Ron expressed a fondness for his song Blues Run the Game. I've got all the Frank stuff and can send some to you if you want, thought it is pretty depressing stuff. Ah: "Jansch was my first true guitar inspiration back in 1966." So, definitely Jansch! He mentioned specifically liking the songs 'Finches' and 'Strollin' down the Highway.' Ron's "Desert Island Albums": Bert Jansch (first album) Paco Peña (the incredible Paco Peña) Camaron/Tomatito (Paris live album) Paco de Lucia (Fantasia Flamenca) B.B. King (Completely Well) Beatles (Sergeant Pepper) Beatles (Please Please Me) Oops, he made it a "top ten" later in the thread Beach Boys (Pet Sounds) John Coltrane (Favorite Things) David Oistrakh ( Bach - Violin Concerto ) A fellow Scott: Davey Graham I also recall that he expressed annoyance at British "Trad Folk" type stuff. "I too was a keen "folkie" from about 14-16 and had records by the Carter Family, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Jesse Fuller, Rev Gary Davis etc as well as some of the Blues legends" Also: "...about Jansch & Renbourne etc....I loved their guitar playing but was never keen on their singing styles and lost interest in them when they formed Pentangle. " So, just instrumental stuff from those guys... "I also hate this "Happy Clapalong" Scottish stuff too (like Johnny Lad) and the Corries etc." Man, Ron sure did like a lot of stuff, but he hated plenty of stuff, too! Good luck putting all this together, Simon! Sorry, I assembled this post in multiple edits, so it's a bit jumbled...
