I'm new to the forum and new to flamenco. I have been practicing on a steel string and need to upgrade desperately. I have about $2600 to spend any suggestions?
I play the 1F ARCE which is maple back and sides, but the cypress model 1f and cypress model 2f are both good guitars as well. The website is operated by foro member tom nuñez, a good guy to order from.

I recommend a Manuel Adalid Viviana, either blanca or negra (although I prefer blancas). Manuel Adalid is the chief luthier at Esteve in Spain, but he has his own line in the Viviana. It costs US$2,500, and you can purchase one from James Greenberg, who runs Zavaleta's la Casa de Guitarras, based in Tucson, Arizona. I visited Zavaleta's in Tucson and had dinner with James Greenberg in 2009. Ended up buying a Manuel Adalid Viviana blanca and he shipped it to my home in Washington, DC. The Viviana has a great flamenco sound, and I think it is as good as, perhaps better than, any other flamenco for the money. You can contact Zavaleta's via the website of the same name.
Cheers,
Bill

You could almost get the used Stephen Faulk if you save back a little more. Some other great guitars on the classifieds for killer low prices. I have a Navarro over there... I would also recommend Salvador Castillo. You can't go wrong with him. Anders has a guitar on the classifieds that wouldn't set you back much and would also be a great option. And if you didn't know, MR. Sanford is just screwing around with you, or he's got into the Ripple a little early today...

I got an email from Ron Hudson saying he had a new Navarro Reyes blanca with pegs in. He stated that it was one of the best guitars he had received from Navarro, but the man does want to sell guitars after all.
Please let us know how the negra works out for you. I'm on the hunt for a negra myself and have yet to hear a report on Navarro's Reyes negra.

Hi,
No. I mean that Ron Hudson wants to sell guitars.
His email spoke highly of this new Navarro and Ron knows I'm a fellow who is always lusting after new guitars. So in short, I don't know if this newest Reyes he got from Navarro is one of the best he ever built, or if Ron is just trying to sell me the guitar, or both. I don't know Ron that well so my guess is both.
