So I was watching this movie and heard this melody. (points if you can discern the movie title ) My question is that I am certain that I have heard this melody before. Where? Is it sort of a part of a guitarrista's chops? Damn, where did I hear that? Extra points if you can make tab of this! Mystery Melody
Sounds like PdL playing. I don't know where it comes from - maybe Carlos Saura's movie that was alluded to a bit earlier? I might be totally off though...
About tabbing it - it's fairly straight forward. Unfortunately, I can't help now because I'm too busy and don't have my recording gear setup (nor am I playing much guitar). I'm sure you can figure it out if you slow it down though.
You must have a pretty good ear. Do you have a Youtube channel of your playing?
The excerpt is from Vengo. It from the scene in the beginning when they are inside with the other musicians. He plays that riff a few times in that scene. Here is what the song starts out with. Excerpt 2 Is this from a recording of Tomatito's?
NewMember should have his foro name renamed to "AwesomeNewMember" :) , how long have you been playing flamenco for , NewMember? and if you dont mind whats your real first name?
i have one but i haven't uploaded any videos yet, maybe in the future, but don't get excited, my playing isn't perfect.
the track is called "Fusion Flamenco Soufi" i found it in the soundtracks of the movie you mentioned, i think he wrote it specifically for that movie.
Do you mean that you heard it before you've seen the movie?
kudo,
My first name is Issam
And thanks man! i really appreciate that!.
I've been playing guitar for a few years now, but I've been playing Real flamenco for only a few months, And i wouldn't actually call it "Playing" since all what i am doing mostly is exercises to develop my technique and working on improving my understanding of flamenco.
the melody is played by tomatito from the movie vengo. He is playing with an egyptian singer seikh ahmad al tuni. Its right in the beginning of the movie.
@ NewMember: Hey well if I wanted perfect I'd listen to John Williams...And I DONT! Well maybe a little but I think you catch my drift. :)
I do mean to say that! I have heard that somewhere before I stumbled upon a youtube video of that scene. Perhaps it was a teacher or other musician I knew at some point.
Watched 'Vengo' from beginning to end last night. My most favorite scene was when the boys were waiting for Caco outside the village and Alejandro begins listening to the tree's duende.

Sounded like Tomatito to me but I couldnt remember where I first heard that riff. If you have the album "Spain" by Tomatito and Michel Camilo, put on track seven, forward to 3:12....I think thats very similar.

That's the right album...1:40 of track 1 "Spain Intro". Almost the same melody as from Vengo. Or sorta half of it at least. I probably at some point had a flamenco track on my mp3 player I was over listening to years ago.
