missing flamenco element?

am I missing something??

I dont know if this has ever happened to you , but i go through phases sometimes where Im just bored, sick and tired of flamenco and in general and dont want to hear flamenco and dont want to touch my guitar. and then a few days later, i would come back to it with more energy. and if that doesnt happen, I find myself trying to learn a new falseta and thats when all the energy is back. its like a cycle for me now, I wonder if thats a result of playing too much in 1 day?? what do you think?

also, the other thing that keeps happening to me is that by the time I nail a falseta or a palo, I dont find myself enjoying it as much as i used to or as much as i did when I first listened to it (to the point that i get bored of them sometimes), and thats where I find myself moving on to a new palo or a new falseta, and then the cycle repeats itself! the "new" becomes "old" and maybe boring and so on..

however, when I compose my own falseta, the cycle breaks, and I keep enjoying my falsetas as much as I always did, no matter how many times I play them.

i really dont know if this is normal?? i dont know if other flamencos went through the same thing or are going through it and they just dont tell anyone about it?? sometimes I feel that some professionals are going through it when I see some of their shows..... but i dont know, i cant tell for sure.... aghh im so confused!

I think this is normal. It helps to try to play OTHER genres of music, but we know already that you don't approve of this suggestion. Therefore, keep doing what you're doing, and compose more of your own stuff if that is what you enjoy the most. There's nothing wrong with taking a week off, without touching the guitar. When you come back to it, you'll feel much more enthusiastic about playing.

Cheers!

Yup! Been there. But now instead of learning more, I try to go deeper with what I already know. I say to myself, "what would a master sound like if he played this falseta?" then I start to notice more things to work on and pay attention to. This has been really enjoyable for me.

You should keep composing. Maybe you enjoy your falsetas longer because they're yours and they're personal. Anyways, this all sounds normal. Just don't burn yourself out.

has been discussed a lot, that being art is 90% perspiration, 10% inspiration. So we have to keep working, waiting for the day that it all comes together which is rare and special but so important. This ties in to another thread recently. I was saying try to surround yourself with inspiring people as much as possible. Inspiration can come from many difference sources not just from other musicians or artists.

I think this is an important part. making music can be a very lonely experience.
As a kind of parallel issue, very often this boredom you feels when you play, can come from other boring parts of your life. You kind of import this feeling of not being happy with something or your life in general. You´re just not having a flow in your life. Try doing something very basic, that always helps. To me contact with nature always gives me a feeleing of what I do is worth it. If you live in the city, it can be enough to go to the park, watch the flowers and grass grow.

Find a nice road bike with a good set of wheels, the bearings have to be very good, this is critical, make sure the tyres are pumped up to 120psi, find some smooth tarmac and get in the groove. Works everytime for me relaxes, focuses the mind and makes you feel alive. All will be good after..well for a while anyway :-)

Except for a sore behind because of the bike seat.
