Nice to see some useful chords in this harmony. Too bad, he messed up the camera angle a little. His playing always reminds me on Nino Miguel. Very accurate and logical rhythm with some nice picados here and there. I like that he cut of the dreadlocks and looks serious now.

Maybe I just don't "get it".... but I think this primitive stuff from Morao sounds way more exciting.

Don't get me wrong, Xavier is a great player, I like him!

But...

cheers,

Ron

He seriously needs a decent mic! Olé, though.

Great stuff, are these his falsetas? I always hoped he would compose something.

Well, I agree with you, Ron. I suppose one reason for that is that a group of musicians is more exciting. Or could it be because Javier Conde's guitar has that awful phaser sound?

This video reminds me very much of La Paquera and Parilla.

I agree with Ron. What a waste of a great fantastic talent. He's playing gibberish - Morao is playing Bulerias.

Javier is a virtuoso guitarist.
Very few guitarists of that level. Millions of critics like yourself, who cant play
their way out of a wet paper bag.
Nobody cares what you think.

I'm sure this is the same guy that I saw at the Teatro de Santa Maria in Madrid about 5 years ago (I may be wrong?) - it was during the same festival where I first saw Jesus de Rosario (and his eleven year old son) and Paco del Pozo. I thought both guitarists were on a level that would see them become household names - well - at least in a flamenco sense. May not feel accessible to old school traditionalists but these guys were fantastic performers.

To ToddK

This is called a "Forum." It is my understanding that this forum is for the free exchange and expression of opinion on matters pertaining to flamenco. You are perfectly free to disagree with my opinion, and to express your own, but I see no call or need for gratuitous nasty, and I might add – uninformed – comments.

Thats very down to earth, traditional flamenco, i dont see much difference to that Morao vid in terms of guitar style. Its just a different setting: group vs solo. I agree, it sounds alot like Nino Miguel, with the picado bursts, even the chord choices.
You cant hear it in that video, but he has a killer sound in his right hand...

That's my favorite video of him. Man, he has one of the best picados I've ever heard. Great playing as always.

Wonderful granaina!

His non-traditional harmonies have a flamenco feel, not just copied from jazz.

Here is the same Alegrias piece played by Serranito. Javier does a great job and to me he sounds better than Serranito

Yeah, im aware of that. Of course, you're free to say whatever you want.

However, i can speak my mind as well. And my mind is saying, anybody who can watch that bulerias, and say what you said, hasnt a brain or a soul in
their body.
Looks like most here agree with me.

Well try doing so less offensively. What's up Todd, got some personal beef you want to settle on this thread?

LOL, yeah, only the same people that always agree with you.

Chill out and watch some 'proper' bulerias man.

Calling a virtuoso like Javier a big waste, is offensive to me.

If it isnt to you, than simply stay out of it.

Dont address your opinions to me. I didnt ask for them, and i dont care.

It is actually cool to disagree with people without offending them. Give it a try sometime. It's just a shame to see interesting threads become so personal.

But keep in mind in not just the people your talking to that can find comments unnecessarily offensive. It's a public forum that the whole world can see. And what people read from your input help them form an opinion on you as a person. If you don't care then you should do.

LOL. Come on Todd. It's all a bit school playground.

I guess you're just having a bad day,

Saying to someone "what a waiste of talent", is probably the most offensive thing you could say to a musician.

And Javier also probably sometimes read this Forum.

Of course everyone is free to say that he doesn't like a specific style.

But "what a waiste of talent" is just too much.
