Yo no me quejo a mi estrella (Soleá de Triana)
Cante: Paco Taranto Guitarra: Manolo Franco
From Paco Taranto's 1988 album "Suspiros al mar"
What I attempt, I succeed I don’t complain to my star I've never wanted one thing That I didn’t achieve Everything I attempt, I succeed I do not complain to my star
Of the most hidden things Time holds the keys Time holds the keys Oh time holds the keys And sooner or later Over time everything is known
Health and freedom oh oh Are items of great value And for anyone who lacks them Life is not worth anything
In Triana night watchmen oh Were saying on the streets Lets sleep everyone who is tired Oh, I do not wake anyone.

Thanks Orson! Where did you get that from? If there were a reliable source online somewhere (even if requiring pay) where I could find such material with clearly written lyrics and their translation, plus the actual music, I would SURELY go there and subscribe. It would not only help my flamenco, but it would help me learn Spanish too. Awesome stuff hombre!

Pero no se cambia nada. Este es un foro de guitarra
Verdad!
Ramzi- I work with a few singers and when we are working on a letra I sometimes get them to translate for me. These translations may not be perfect; they explain that sometimes it's quite hard to translate to English and retain the feeling/meaning.
There are a few sites on the internet with the letras in Spanish. I like this one as it has a youtube link to the letra being sung-

Song title: Que un Toro Bravo en su Muerte (A brave bull at the time of his death) Album: Al verte las flores lloran 1969 (Flowers cry when they see you)
This Tiento interpreted by Camarón de la Isla, and PDL at the guitar, is a precious gem from my point of view. The lyrics have a sense of bitterness as well as pretty sour descriptions of smell and the emotions that lead from it. For me, the lyrics of this song reach the depths into the essence of pain. Love and pain, pain of a betrayed love. The hate here becomes a reaffirmation of the love he still feels. The second part seems like a pastige as the tone, the character, the theme changes. Remembering maybe the beggining of their love.
"Yo have to shed/spill more blood that a little brave bull at the time of his death I don't know where you get the courage/nerve to speak bad about me
Go, go now ugly girl your body smells like whore the same as the sailor smells like "brea" (brea in spanish is a mixture consisting of tar, fish, tallow and oils to paint, make boats waterproff, impermeable.)
Down there you can see a little fountain, made out of lime and sand stone, where my "serrana" drinks (referring to a girl from the sierra/mountain) water from this new fountain.
I would build for you I would build you a little bridge so you could pass/walk from your house into mine."

The night now falls over the forgotten boat That in the belly holds a story, an enchanted mermaid. The forgotten boat, dreams of kissing the water And plunging his dried body, between the white waves
And let the stars be turned off And the fish be disguised as reflection To not disturb And I sit beside her and hear her crying Asking the fisherman
Let me sail once more, through Bajo Guia; Let me die among the waves, drifting; Let my wooden body break with the waves in the sun; Let me, let me die ... Ole ... drifting ...
And if they don’t want to give my body to the sea I don’t want them to take pity on me Let the fisherman break me in to pieces And I burn in a bonfire before you.
This burning sorrow oh! I can’t stand it I got close to this old fisherman Screaming like one only does it once
Let me sail once more, through Bajo Guia; Let me die among the waves, drifting; Let my wooden body break with the waves in the sun; And let me, let me die ... drifting ...
Let me sail once more, through Bajo Guia; Let me die among the waves, drifting; Let my wooden body break with the waves in the sun; Let me, let me die ... Ole ... drifting

The last letra: y dios lo va mandar un castigo muy grande y eso porque tu te lo merece ay porque te vienes culpando y yo culpa no tengo que de te hablara la gente ay porque te viene culpando y yo culpa no tengo que de te habla a (la gente) ((starts the remote early in the melody))
ay que te quiero pero de la chino te lo pelo (not exactly sure about this one but I'll ask my teacher next lesson.

This song has become one of my all time favorites. The song is packed full of emotion, while also having a certain emptiness to it(the guitar and the cante).(contradiction!?) The first thing Paco plays in this song is just so damn bad ass, while still having a feeling of emptiness. That opening line " Murio mi madre..." just kills me every time and my mom is still alive! It was very important to me, to understand this song...i've been using a language learning app(HelloTalk) where you talk to people from other countries...So i asked this beautiful woman from spain for a translation. I have a problem with 1 of the lines, she says that he says "yo no quiero verte" x 2, i hear that the first time but the second time it sounds to me like he says "yo no quiero verdad".
English: My mom died Now I'm alone Helpless and with no ones' warmth i went through fatigues i don't want to see you i Don't want to see you ...ay not even to listen to your voice although i have you in my routine Like a malediction
and here is a video of Camaron's Mother, i feel like it's important to include in this post.
Possibly we could get a translation for this video =D.

El torta was incredible, some more from him:
my spanish isn't great so no guarantees about the letras

Bulerias by Alonsito "Rancapino Chico" and the great Paco Cepero. Perfect example of less is more! For me it doesn't get any better than this, I love the way Anlonso moves and plays with the compas. And Ceperos acompanying is sublime. When can I'll try and get the letra

A cante kariokee tutorial. Those who don't understand Spanish can either appreciate the features of the presenters beauty for rather a long time, or skip ahead to the singing at 2 minutes
Personally, being hung like an Ox I find singing in this register only just about works if I wear my daughters tightest pair of jeans, but some of you wee-balls might manage it
