Everyones suggestion on what cd's I ...

Just incase i might have missed a good cd this might be a good way to discover stuff i would have not otherwise tryed.

One that i havent heard too many pple talk about that i quite like is :

Pepe de Lucia's & Vicente Amigo album El corazón de mi gente

and if you havent got this one allready : Palosanto by Carlos Pinana

there is one brilliant Alegria on there called Mar the Suenos which I transcribed and I love :)

Please make some recomandations on albums that you like that the rest of us might have missed.

Sorry about posting this twice Simon please feel free to delete the one in Public Post.

I didn't know VA was on Pepe de Lucia's CD. Wow. I'll have to get it. Piñana's Palosanto is excellent!

If you like Moraito's accompany work, get Terremoto's "Cosa Natural".

What about Niño de Pura's "Pozo y Caudal".

Florian,

For guitar cds (in no particular order);

1) Pedro Sierra - Decisión (lots of other instrumentation and fusion but as a guitarist he sounds very flamenco to me on the more flamenco oriented tracks - soleá, bulerías)

2) Pedro Bacan - Aluricán He died a few years ago, but he was a good guitarist all around, very, very flamenco

More tomorrow.

Anthony

Florian.

If you want something up to date that is well worth listening to, try "Un segundo de cante" by Segundo Falcon, with Paco Serrano on guitar. You can have a trial listen at
www.flamenco-world.com.

Click on the CD's section and type "Segundo Falcon" in the search panel. There are several clips you can listen to on REALPLAYER.

I cheated a little by not buying it, but winning it in a comp. It's very good.((-:

Peter Suggestion just reminded me of something i recentely got
Guitar album : David Tavares ---Un brasileño en Madrid

Dont be put off by the title , it is flamenco however something about the sound of the trebles that is kind of Brasilian sounding if that makes any sense ?

This is a very nice cd theres something very sweet and innocent about the music, is the kind of cd you can have playing in the background.

I know it kind of sounds like the kind of cd's youl find in Infromercials on TV late at night " HEY THERE < DO YOU LIKE FLAMENCO AND BRASILIAN MUSIC ? WELL NOW YOU DONT HAVE TO SEPARATE THE 2 ANYMORE !!! WE HERE AT AMTEL THINK WE HAVE THE ANSWER !!" heheheh

BUT it is not that at all it deserves alot more respect than that .

For guitarists accompaning Dancers you have to have :Juana la Loca from Sara Baras concert.

Jesús de Rosario & Mario Montoya: guitars
theres so many good ideas you can use accompaning dancers eg the cool scratching during tangos escobilla.

Hi.

This is some cd´s i like.

Paco de lucia .Bienal de seville -98 (live! Bootleg you wont find this one i think. I got this from a guy in sweden who actually worked in their achive. He has copyed every consert.)
Diego El Cigala con Niño Josele
Duquende.Samaruco.
And even Ojos de brujo. Bari (even if it´s POP it´s quite nice)
Anything With Camarón and paco.
And a swedish one called ERIK STEEN. He´s very modern and very melodic. His group is called Flamenco fusion. But don´t be affraid cuz of the fusion. It´s very flamenco.

Appologies Florian. Of course it is Paco Jarana. Got carried away.

Another one to listen for is Manuel Parrilla, especially his bulerias "Manuella.

O.T. - New CD (in reply to bailoro2000

I read somewhere on F-W that Estrella Morente was supposed to have a new CD out in December, but I have not seen it anywhere nor have I read anything of it since. Anyone know anything else about this release?

Florian,

Pedro Bacan was kind of his own man. I don't know a lot about him, but there's a disc he played on for José de la Tomasa which is pretty solid. Alurican is now out of print but I can get it for you. It would be difficult to compare him to someone else, he was unique.

I think he was from Sevilla or Utrera. He had very strong opinions about flamenco. In fact, there's a rumor that he refused to play for dancers, but I can't remember the reason. Someone else here may know of this....

Do you have Rafael Riqueni's second recording, called simply "Flamenco"? It was never released on cd, but a couple people made mp3s of it, I did and that one has some good playing on it.

Do you have Adam del Monte?

Juan Carmona? Carmona is pretty solid.

How about Pascual Gallo? Another French player. He has a nice Colombiana with some cool vocal harmony on it. It's an ok cd. Paco de Lucía wrote a nice personal endorsement for Pascual.

Maybe one of the above people will be new to you....

I have Pedro Becan's solo CD which has I think an 8 minute improvised Buleria, and Tarrantos, with percusion played on a Guitar case, also an Alegria that goes on and on, he was certainly a virtuoso, I was shocked to hear of his death.

Actually, he was from Lebrija and was first cousin of Pedro Peña and Juan Peña 'El Lebrijano'.
He was an excellent guitarist who had an untimely death in a car accident about 6 years ago.
