Has anyone else caught Antonio Rey on Facebook? He frequently does small "Facebook Live" broadcasts late at night or in the early hours - playing at home, noodling on melodies, answering your questions, taking request, demonstrating techniques, etc.
He did one last night jamming with a guy from Puerto Rico.
It's quite a rare treat to see a major player in that context.
Unfortunately, he doesn't record or keep these broadcasts on his timeline - which is a real shame because he treats us to some up-close insight into his playing.

Do you have to be a "Friend" to see the live stream? I uninstalled the Facebook app years ago when I learned of their shady tactics. I've been checking his page in the web browser.

One thing you will notice with Antonio is that he an avid smoker. Every time he streams live he is puffing on a cigarette which makes me conclude that every time he practices he is smoking. I don't blame him and of course let people make their own choices and don't judge but I can't help to think of Paco when I see this and how he was taken early from us due to it.
I noticed the same thing and I couldn't figure out what he was smoking at first, but then realized he was rolling his own cigarettes, lol! I work in the health/fitness industry, so it does concern me to see him smoking unfiltered cigarettes, but I understand it's a personal choice. Paco was a two-pack a day guy, from what I understand. Antonio's live feeds are wonderful and I kept delaying my own evening practice to watch him do his thing.

When I was in his workshop in last year's festival in Jerez, during the 4 hours of class every morning he would smoke roughly 7 or 8 cigarettes. The year before in Diego del Morao's workshop I think Diego smoked even more. Most of this guys really smoke a lot.
