Yes , i made a point of watching that game .. I dont think the USA have ever got that far ...maybe it will be more popular in America now ... I really did want them to win ... the only thing I noticed about their playing is it wasnt aggressive enough .. A lot of passing and trying to hold on to the ball ... which is fine , waiting for your opportunity , in the first few rounds .. But into the quarter finals . it wont work .. you gotta get in there and make it into the goal area ,, cos if you dont the other team will ... see how the next round of tactics change now ...
yeah ...punching people when the ref isnt looking ... rolling on the floor in the penalty area holding your knee for no reason ... biting ears ... holding people by the back of their shirt so the ref cant see why he hasnt moved ... you know ..European stuff ....its only illegal if you get caught ...
now get training ,, only 4 years to get all that right ......
I do not agree with you. There's a lot of goal in this mundial. Average of quasi 3 por game, that's huge. Some surprise team like Costa Rica, if they pass the 1/4 that would be great. If you focus on big national teams, then yes they succk. Big star names who get paid astronomical amount of money and what they show there. Nada!! Cristiano Ronaldo, pfff what a joke! this guy is a poser! and the list could go on.
I enjoy watching Maradona's daily show on venezuelan channel Telesur (YT maradona 'de Zurda'). He focus on latina American futball and analyse the game with his own view. That's a nice show. They are very politized btw Flamenco is a way of life but futball is a way of life in America Latina too
Now the medias here are broadcasting often the 82 Sevilla barbarian and infamous attack of Schumarer against Battiston. This is a very big case here and the game sounds like a revange of this era. When you compare this son of a beach terrorista act with Suarez bite, then you can see how much things have change in socker game;

Depends on which way you look at. Poor defending and centre backs high up, makes for very enjoyable viewing. A fit, attacking team with a couple of good strikers, that holds it shape and the back line in the first 3rd should go all the way.

RE: The World cup rant page (in reply to Escribano)
What a pity about Costa Rica, not that i have anything against Holland ,,to our dutch members. I just like to see a smaller team get through .... and the penalties .. a bit unfair as it negates playing the match at all ... still its the same for everyone ... so ..
so now were left with Germany ..Brazil ... Netherlands and Argentina
Its gonna be tough and there will be a lot of Yellow cards going out ... one mistake and that could change the whole thing .. i think I would say Germany has the best chance to win now .....
Loved the German game strategy Every player gets a goal.. Different
Strangest game I've seen...quite painful to watch was very fond of previous Brazilian Campaigns...
If I can't sleep I'll just count the German goals
Saddest part for me though was the crowd camera focusing on crying Brazilian kids during the match My heart went out to them seeing their heroes swamped by the blitzkrieg alas life is full of shattered dreams....
anyway, next? Robben dives again....not a fan of the dutch campaign... i'm hoping Argentina will pull through then we'll have a final worth the 5am wake up...
Seems Robben is a bit of a sore loser... And a bad actor Where in fact his team have no chance as they lost Looking forward to the final... They may be a bit tired and sore but never underestimate Argentina ....think they have the full starting line up this time ...
Probably the worst quality World Cup for ages: some games obviously bought, very poor football. Congrats to Alemania, who played the best football of the tournament and actually deserved to win.
Germany clearly dominated throughout, and they played just as clean (and certainly no dirtier) than any of the other teams, including Argentina. Both Germany and Argentina played a good defensive game, but in the end, Germany scored, and that is what counts. Germany deserved to win.

Our players had one day less of rest and had to play an extended time plus penalties in the previous match (against a very strong opponent - Netherlands). You know how fast you have to run to stop Robben from scoring in those lightning forward attacks? This played a significant factor in our physical endurance on a, yet again, extended period match.
you mean they were doing their job .. that thing that they are so highly paid to do ...win or loose... I know your not here to make excuses , but you just did
And they certainly deserved to win as much as Germany, if not more.
In the end, Shroomy, the Germans scored, as you noted, "a beautiful goal." That's all that matters. And the Germans did dominate throughout the Cup series. What Hiquain did or did not do, what Brazil did or did not do (In my opinion Brazil played awful, and not just because their best player was out; they looked like they were hardly even trying, and I wonder if they would have played much better even it they had their full team!), and a thousand other incidents and circumstances could have affected the outcome. So let the Germans bask in their glory. There's always 2018 to look forward to, and I, for one, am hoping the USA continues its climb into the top ranks of football. We may not win the Cup, but we are no longer a joke in the world of football. And Argentina will have its chance again to try for the Cup.

I was not making excuses as to why Argentina should have won, but as to why Argentina deserved to win as much as Germany. Big difference. Financial compensation goes out the window when we talk about that aspect.
When the 90 min regular time results in a tie, any further development has the same odds and value as flipping a coin would; however many times the teams should re-play that game, it would continue to yield disparate and contradicting results.
Most definitely wanted the Argentinians to take the cup And it most certainly looked that way till the end of the 90 minutes The German goal took all by surprise .. the Argentinians looked fatigued when into added time ... Understandably And agree in point that they led the stronger campaign Still Either win is a deserved one .. The Germans had the advantage entering that final Happens each tournament The nature of the quest Less deserved would be a penalty shoot out
But our hearts sank when the Germans scored
Man, really missed di Maria Definitely our favourite player throughout
