The best Mexico side I've ever seen in a world cup, I though they looked sharp against Cameroon, but it was Cameroon. I can see them going against Netherlands in the next round (2A vs 1B), that should be interesting.
Only blind persons didnt see what was comming with the Spanish team. The last 2-3 years they have been sleeping and have played extremely boring football. The same happened to FC Barcelona. Unfortunately, when Xabi Hernandez, maybe the best Spanish player all times, couldnt play 100% because he´s worn out, then the other players around him didn´t funcion anymore and so Barcelona went down and now the Spanish national team. Busquets is nothing without Xabi, Iniesta dont know what to do when he doesnt have his "amigo" around and even Messi has had a year and a half below what he was. So, two teams will have to be built up from the bottom. And please change that goalkeeper now. Casillas is out. I never liked Mourinho, but he was right when he degraded Casillas 1,5 years ago.
I´m going on hollydays in weeks time, so I wont see the end of the world cup, but there are many other teams who have played a very nice offensive football so far. So bye Spain and come back with full strength next time.
Well the home team, Australia is out They played much better than expected against the Nederland's so a mighty effort ... But no surprise on the result So keeping an eye on a team that connects for me to support ... Keeps the 4 30am telecasts viable . Last cup was Spain .. Before that Brazil .. Neither this time round Chile looking like a good team that might hold some surprises Just dreading the thought of a Nederland's vs Germany final which seems to be the current vibe .. Early days ..
Up against Spain next With our main goal scorer out on yellow cards still feel out young side has a good chance
Oh .. And what's with the two Cameroon players? Never seen a player head butt one of his own
Anders , Where, please tell, are you going on holiday that you will not be able to see the worldcup ??
Countys Clare, Sligo, Mayo and leitrim. You know where the irish trad summer boom will be going on. (Miltown Malbay, Tobbercurry, Drumshanbo, Achill Island and Feakle.)
I know that it will be possible to see the world cup there and I might see some matches. But when the didley didley starts, the world cup in football is absolutely not interesting. And before reaching ireland i will be in France for a week just playing, walking the dogs and reading books. As always, my hollydays are long. No internet, no mobile phone.. You know real hollydays.
So, a sum up so far.... As usual, the Latin American teams are doing well when the world cup is in south or central america. The Europeans look a lot more confused. Spain, England and Portugal are not running fine. Belgium and Holland might be going long and Germany look well prepared, but lets see some more games. Maybe Germany was good because Portugal was bad and maybe Holland was good because Spain was bad etc. I like this year Italian team. They seemed happy and light fotted and Italy can go far. They´ve done so many times.
I wont leave untill mid next week. I have things to finish. Right now the heat is not to bad. Around 30 C and its fresh in the night. They have just harvested the wheat, so I can walk the dogs over the open fields. I actually enjoy it right now. But we had 40 C last week and its not so nice. I get out early in the morning and the rest of the day untill 22.00 or so you are locked up inside the house. Its ok for a little while, but a whole summer is horrible. It gets on your nerves. You know it. I can remember how you were after a whole Andalucian summer in a Spanish village without tourism.
well then you will be near me ....... i am often in Sligo ...but mainly in north cork country side .....it could be an idea to meet up for a Guinness ... About the temp ... sorry to say but it was 29 here the ither day .. and all this week has been a bit record breaking heat .... The news said it was hotter here than in Brazil and Havana ....so ..theres no escaping it ........
PM me a mobile phone number. I might be not so far from North Cork, mid end August. Peter. I will take a ferry from Brittany, So I wont go any further north on the continent this time.
Think of this: the two national football (soccer) leages that moves most money in the world is the Spanish and the English and their respective national teams are both out after having lost their first two maches..... I dont know about England, but money is totally screwing up the Spanish football league. Yes, I know, there were 2 Spanish teams in the champions league a few weeks ago. I´m not talking about the rich clubs, I´m talking about the league. The rest of the teams in the league is playing in "another" league.
What an hecatombastic!! Big European teams are dropping like flies so far! Spain, England, Italy, Portugal (mostly probable) are out
The 1st block is composed by 4 Sudacas teams. Brazil, Chile, Colombia y Uruguay. That means 1 of the 1/4 is gonna be a south american derby. An there's gonna be at least one south american team in the last four (semifinal).
Probably the europeans survivors will be Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Germany and France

...and Greece. This was a last minute classification.
I said on another post that FIFA should judge and sanction retroactively simulator as they do with agression in the field. Suarez the cannibal most probably is going to be sanctionned for the bite. This guy has long teeth

Proud of the U.S. team yesterday. They played their hearts out till the end. I'm not even a soccer (futbol) fan but it was hard not to enjoy watching that.
