Jason came across to me as an arrogant tosser , and I have trouble going beyond this feeling when I watch him play . However I have learnt to learn from everyone and feel he has a significant amount of knowledge, he enjoys sharing . I would also like to see Jason accepted back to the foro .
Not to toss a wrench into the gears of desire, but wasn't Jason banned after a rather extensive series of warnings about what was being posted? I personally have nothing against Jason, but my recollection is he worked pretty hard at getting banned in the first place ...
I have huge respect for Jason and would love him to be part of the forum, but I think admins were pretty clear on this one. And even if they changed their minds, someone will have to convince Jason to come back. He's not exactly losing sleep over this whole banning thing. We need him much more than he needs this forum.
Jason should be banned. Why would we want a great player who has tons of experience playing for pros, who also speaks music and can explain everything he does, and is willing to share his knowledge. The stuff he posted here was among the coolest, most educational stuff that's ever been posted here. Oh yeah, he got sassy with a guy who called himself a flamenco professor who hadn't really done anything at that point, and who attempted to instruct people on matters of compas and more with absurd videos. Makes perfect sense.
Jason IS a great guitar player, and with a LOT of knowledge, and it would be great if he was still here. Having been on the forum the entire time all the stuff happened when he got banned ... It's clear to me why he got banned ...
If he got un-banned I'd be happy to see him here, but then if he ended up getting re-banned .... Well I guess I won't be surprised ...

I gotta say that at first when I saw his videos I thought the same, just coz he's so good he's GOTTA be an a-hole right?
Well, after getting to know him I can say that if he considers you a friend, he's extremely generous and helpful. I was new in town, he took the time to introduce me to the local flamenco crowd, hooked me up with gigs, and schooled my ass.
For further proof that he's not a 'tosser' - the dude loves the beatles and the flaming lips. You can't be a bad person if you love the flaming lips!
He got banned because he had some beef in real life with a guy that showed up here and started trolling. Then they aired out the dirty laundry in front of everyone, and the other guy (his name rhymes with whitebread) threatened to sue.
It sure was bubbling here when McGoo was around. He'd post challenges, give free subscriptions to his site as prizes, and answered music related questions from a pro/virtuouso standpoint.
He came back a few times under various aliases, but didn't post very meaningful stuff. I think getting banned killed it for him and he didn't want to invest effort in this place anymore.
I'm not even a friend, I've just met him a few times and he was very cool with me. More then happy to talk shop and give advice. Very down to earth. When I went to introduce myself he said "I know you from the forum man." Very cool dude. I'd love to see him back here but I wasn't around for the drama......
I wasn't here when Jason was posting..he's one of the bedrocks of American flamenco. Too bad there was some sort of drama, but it all seems sort of girly that he was banned. I don't want to complain, because someone else took the time to set up this forum and its not my creation, but it is a shame that one of the great flamenco guitarists of the anglophone world should be banned from a flamenco forum when you let amateurs like myself on here
I wasn't here when it all went down. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for Simon (the admin and the host) for creating this haven for flamenco, guitar, and OT discussion. Although Jason is an amazing player and and I would absolutely like him to post, I can only imagine that Simon has the best interests of the forum in banning him.
There was discussion about wives, etc. Threats to sue, it was getting nasty and ugly, despite being asked to stop the parties involved kept going. It wasn't girly - It was prudent.
My kid who's ten has a friend that he likes to hang out with, and he's a nice kid, but whenever he's over stuff gets broken. When he's not here things don't get broken, despite that my son doesn't like it, his friend is not asked to come over anymore. It's called protecting my household, despite that it's not always popular.
I'm all for people here being passionate about their art , to extremes . I also like to think that we could all get together and have a laugh about it .
He wasn't really thrown out ..yes there was a disagreement ..and it was that private arguments shouldnt be aired here on the foro ..its not for that ..and argue somewhere else ..then come back .... it was just a parting of the ways . I know he would be welcome back here ..its his choice to come or not ... nothing to do with the foro really....
Actually he is still around on here from time to time with a different name .....
After he left here he started his own foro , but it didnt go too well in the end ...
I think he is a ood player , definitely great technique ... not as flamenco as some at times though and can be very childish at times ... I think he has been told this before ... I have no problem with him being here under any name ... but no - one wants a troublemaker however good he plays ..not here ...apart from that ..ask him ....
Wait Kiko... Being so called "childish" is very flamenco. Look what gitanos do the whole day. even if that's not childish for me, it's just about having fun.. I think you guys shouldn't take things so serious at least not yourself.
I know what gitanos do all day , not childish .... i dont mean having fun childish .. I mean being childish in the true sense of the word ...by what you write about others ...name calling for no reason ..and all that ...
Flamencos call each other names all the time. When I saw Tomatito he was making fun of Vicente's "Ciudad de las ideas" CD that made me end up on the floor from laughter. Childish enough?
Man I need one of those guitars so i can practice more without driving wife crazy.
A lot of great players may come off a little arrogant, I thinks it's cause there tired of people not listening to there instruction, they probably feel like a broken record.
Saying slow slow slow down slow down slow down slow down slow down, ect LOL.

Jason was banned. Legal threats were part of the problem, but the final straw was when he started his own version of the "Foro Flamenco" website. He has joined FF at least once using an alias and was banned a short time later. I'd like to have him back, but I just can't imagine that happening.
