Lately I have been thinking a lot about Projectile Farting:

You swallow steel ball bearings and then eat a bucket of pickled onions and beer.
Then you stand with your back to something you want to hit and then fart. Theoretically the steel ball should move from your arse at high velocity and destroy the target.

A wise person would think twice about getting into bed with you.

But then a wise person always worries about who they get into bed with.

Perhaps even a prostitute most of all.

Agreed but nevertheless they promote this thread, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

I'm busy trying to get all of my repair work finished so that I can resume my work on the new models.

It's really a shame the Foro has degenerated a lot over the past year or two,
because of this garbage, and if you look around you realize there are a bunch of
people who used to be here who are no longer around. Good players, and Luthiers
alike are gone, and why?

Clearly there's room in the world for humor, but come on guys, really - This is humor?

It's sad but with the passage of Ron this stuff has proliferated.

Who's forcing you to be a part of it?

OTOH, I really feel that all the boring people who never posted a joke in here should be shot or/and have his account canceled.

Ah, well, I guess the use of profanity and expletives directed at somebody as a
response is not allowed, not to mention that I'm not so uncouth as to do it, so I
won't.

RE: FINE TUNING A GUITAR (in reply to n85ae

I take it you read the whole thread?

If not, read Tom's last post. This thread is heading for 11,000 views. That's ink for Tom.

And in case you get to some more party-pooping let me say this first: Most of the people who have dragged this thread in and out of the gutter and up to the sky are maybe not the high quality luthiers and players you mourn. Maybe they're just regular people who have retained love of a good old-fashioned fart joke? But they look like the same people to me that have been posting for years. And they seem the same people that are fiercely interested in guitar.

I find it distasteful in the extreme for you to brandish Ron's name in the name of your agenda. Please desist at once. We were having a little fun and Tom was interjecting with news of his venture. So if it gets a bit bawdy then so be it. Don't read it. Go read something else.

The part of this thread that is most certainly not funny is the part when you came with your nagging.

Read the whole thread. Then, if you have something intelligent to say, say it. If I don't like the sausages at the local butcher's shop I do not make it a point to rush in and tell them about it. I go buy somewhere else.

Please, please, consider seriously what I have said. I do not come here to be appalled. And I am appalled by your thoughtlessness. You are appalled by childish humour. I am appalled by your arrogance.

By the way, the whole thread is a pretty good read. All those useless bums that are no good to you and your high standards did a good job.

Tom understands why such threads should not be buried or taken behind closed doors. There are people of strong opinions here. Just know that your opinion is only yours.

Okay, I will admit, Arash went too far. His headfart video was disgusting. It was disgusting right up until a girl who had been headfarted said to the farter, "Do I know you?"

That was a classic. Thanks for posting.

RE: FINE TUNING A GUITAR (in reply to z6

z6 - you're missing his point. The point is that he (and others, like me) want to read this thread to hear about Tom's fine tuning, about the pros and cons, etc. of that process, the results of the fine tuning, etc. We don't want to have to sift through the junk about fish or bodily functions to find the on topic conversations. So to say "Don't read this thread" isn't a viable suggestion; but it is getting to that point for me because so many people are trying to hijack the thread.

Yes who started that? Not me. I've been defending Tom as he has a right to promote his business the same as everyone else.

It doesn't matter who starts what, it's just that these threads turn into garbage.
The people who post into these things, with these crude jokes, etc. They just diminish
themselves as human beings.

As somebody trying to make fine instruments, and sell them I would think I personally
would not want to be thought of as an unrefined crude human being. Which is what
people think when you post things like this thread has contained. The people who don't
agree are vocal, however they are probably not so many as people who read these
threads and think - This is just stupid.

I tend to think my opinions are not in the minority.

Seriously, in a forum related to my own business, I'd sure as heck not be posting about
"projectile farting", give me a break.

As James Dean said in "Rebel without a cause." Stop it! you are tearing me apart!!!

Can't we all just get along? :-)

Stephen, let me know how your latest build is going. What style are you working on? Are you concentrating on a particular style as your signature model?

Give me a break, you know how much crap I had to take by defending Tom?

I'm sick and tired of seeing Blackshear getting knocked around just because his idea is to move to a model of limited edition mass production. Everyone uses this forum to project themselves into the guitar community to sell guitars, and to pretend you're holier than thou because you are hand building and not involved in factory work is absurd if not hypocritical.

Most of the people who criticize Tom don't even know how to make a guitar, or if they do they are whining because its unfair or not right he's taking his work to a factory. Or unfair and not right because he's talking about brace tuning again. There's nothing unfair, it seems all out front to me. He's not saying his guitars are Spanish and then having them made in China. He's saying they go through a chain of workers and he engages the process as a designer and expedites his part as a quality control manager. What makes that any different than what other makers such as Kenny Hill have done?

So any of you who want to get up off the couch when you are 70 plus years old and reinvent your work like Tom is doing you go for it. And if a little fart joke offends you well then I'm sorry for you. My customer loyalty is strong enough to sustain a fart joke now and then, I'm not worried about it.

Tom started this thread to talk about his system of making guitars. I thought about it and decided I needed to change how I respected Tom and his years spent making guitars. I don't agree with everything he says, but so what? Show me someone here who who has not tried to do the same thing and argue and defend his own say of working. What I see is the continuation of efforts to knock him off the Foro by posting off topic things in his thread.

Personally I think attacking an older man who has been making guitars since before you were born is the really stinky fart. Got anything better to do with your time? See I don't have to put Tom down to feel superior. At this point in my career I can make friends with whomever I choose and frankly I value the knowledge of the older ones much more than those my own age or younger. Tom has more of a contribution to make than any of his detractors would understand.

don't you read before you type.

I'm working on necks right now. I'm building them five at a time. I hope that is not too mass production for the purists..

When I am not ranting, I'm researching and sourcing materials on the internet. Japan is a big first world country, but it is an island chain and the supply line works much differently here than in the US or Europe. I have to plan further in advance to have material delivered on time. I have to be more careful about how much and what I order because send backs are expensive, time consuming and difficult. I've come to appreciate the problems of building that Europeans and Americans don't have vis vis the supply chain and perhaps that got me thinking about how difficult it is to begin an edition of guitars made in more than one place.

It also made me think a lot about how much fuel is used to mover materials and finished guitars around the world. Not that from where I stand they have to move any farther, but you just become hyper aware of how supply lines operate if you live here rather than California, where most everything is easy to acquire.

So I'm looking at necks sourcing carbon fiber for the necks by establishing direct contacts with the primary suppliers in the US. I'm going with my old company Aero Space Composites in Pleasanton CA. I've been buying supplies for them since the mid 1990's. So much of my work is not even in the shop, it's administrative and buyer oriented, and I'm just one guy, not a factory. Yuko is also working to translate my website into Japanese and I stand by to answer questions and explain things like the difference between 'blancas' and 'negras'.

I did read, and I know I made afart joke. beyond my silly fart joke I'm the one who backed attackers off of Tom, so I feel I can make a fart joke once in a while.

I'm not the one who was blocking Toms way, if anyone cares to read through this whole thread. And frankly it cost me personally to shove the playground bullies out of the way.

So very sorry if I offended the delicate and good Ladies of the Foro of guitar making with a fart joke.

Joder.

Your on topic posts are interesting to read, your off topic "fart" posts are annoying.
When it cascades to the point of "Head Fart" video clips, the thread is wasted. That
happens a lot lately, which is what I meant in the first place.

I am not a "good" lady.

I have deleted my own posts on page 9.

They more or less started this avalance. And I should definately know better.
My posts were absurd. I use the absurd to show disagreement without being directly verbaly unpolite.
I shouldnt do so. I should shut up and stay away.

I completely 100% disagree with the content of this thread and the ideas being expressed by some of the contributors. IMHO it has nothing to do here on the foroflamenco. ITS 100% FAKE.
But since I´m a minority in this, I should shut up and stay away

This fórum is 99% dead for me. I will not leave it now. I will continue to be a foro member at least for a while. But maybe I should try to stay away from most of the discussions here. And maybe I should try to stay away from some of the posters as well.

It's funny how people have different sensibilities.

I don't care about fart jokes at all. But I gasped at the above.

As I recall playground bullies generally sucked up to some gang leader by picking on loners.
