RE: Would you like to have Jason McG... (in reply to Waldo)
With a bit of hindsight that may have seemed a bit harsh, but my original point remains true. With regard to jason mcguire , A non Spaniard leaves a non Spanish website: who in the REAL flamenco world cares??

BTW: Flamenco is the music of the Gypsies of southern Spain. Flamenco isn't very popular among non-Gypsies in Spain and Gypsies from northern Spain don't play flamenco at all--they are canisteros Gypsies. Flamenco as an example of Spanish culture was something that Franco promoted, but most Spaniards don't identify with it.
Like every form of music these days flamenco belongs to the world and not just a small subset of people living in Spain.

well you (godsent from the real world) seem to care, otherwise why posting here? besides, how are we supposed to know who in the real world cares? we're just non spanish people on a non spanish website. (ps: i knew my logic lectures would pay off someday)

The future of flamenco lies outside of Spain. Just ask Gerardo Nunez.
do you know what this reminds me of? it reminds me of religion, like Islam, because foreigners think that islam is for arabs only and only arabs practice the religion the way it should be and that you can live/understand islam in the arab world only, and that is SO WRONG!
I am muslim and arab by race who lived in the middle east for half of my life.
guess what? I have seen that REAL ISLAM is truly practiced and outside of the arab world BY NON-ARABS (who converted to islam), who TRULY understand the religion. I have met white americans/canadians/europeans who practice Islam the way it should be and know a lot more than I do and a lot more than MOST arabs in the arab world know. you would be surprised! I think that arabs should become like the non-arabs who converted to islam. besides these non-arab converts HAVE STUDIED THE FORMAL arabic language and studied the religion VERY deeply before making their decision, so their knowledge and arabic language is better than MOST arabs!! because arabs speak informal arabic which is really rubbish compared to the formal
thats why I can perfectly understand why the future of flamenco is outside of Spain.
a spaniard gpysy once said that FLAMENCO will live in hearts of gypsies FROM WHATEVER RACE THEY ARE FROM. same applies to religion , thats the point. its not just for 1 nation, they are for the world!
PS. dont forget the history of flamenco and how it all started
RE: Would you like to have Jason McG... (in reply to Adam)
kind of on topic......
I much prefer learning with a teacher rather than books. even though I can only afford lessons on a semi regular basis, I learn heaps more from flo in that time then I do from weeks of trying to play things from books
a good example is when i try to play something i learned from a book to florian, he always has "little details" that can make it heaps more awesome

I didn't want to mention this, but basically you cannot be good at anything unless you are Greek. Living in Greece or kissing Greek butt does not qualify you either.
Related/supporting ancient quotes: "Whoever is not Greek is barbarian."

The last poster but one has a point, But analyzing clips of bulerias at 300bpm and commenting thereupon is not flamenco. switch your computers off, go and play. NOT to each other!! Go to Spain!

Armenians..... not the real deal. Waldo is the only real deal and the only one qualified to decide who is. Waldo even surpasses "The Nor Wad" in flamenco righteousness and purity and it is in Waldo that we should place our respect. He has come to give us his wisdom and it is his words that will lead us to duende. Waldo we will worship no longer the false diety of "Nor Wad" and plead for your forgiveness that we have forsaken you for so long even though your holy name has just been revealed to us. Oh divine Waldo we will follow you. Praise your name all mighty Waldo.

Jason is mentioned in so many posts, not to mention his videos being everywhere, that it seems like he's been here all along. It would be good to have him back though. Don't mess with the foro though. They kicked out CMND/CNTRL too and al he did was call a spade a spade

but you have to accept that this website, and all it contains is not the real deal. A nice place for non indigineous aficianados to chat, but please......
What is this statement actually in response to? I find all the discussions about, and links to videos of "cutting edge" flamencos to be grounding.
Just out of curiosity, Do you play flamenco guitar Waldo?

So now it is all clear why I give that up ....it was never possible ..... No my friends , do not try to console me , I am not the real deal ......
Just ban me now ... make it quick ......

I have been asked, do I play guitar. No I sing. I often sing without a guitarist, they are not essential to flamenca. I often only meet the guitar player just before I sing, and I must say, I would be really disheartened if the guitar player was not Spanish. You do not have the required empathy if you come from anywhere else. I have joined the wrong website. I will leave.

It took you over 10 months to realize the guitarists on this foro aren't from Spain?
Let your Spanish guitarists have their empathy and duende, I'll gladly keep my powers of basic observation and simple logic.

You Adam are a proof of what has happened to flamenca. Look at your foto. You are a plump well fed wealthy Englishman with absolutely no connection to our history and culture. You are playing at it.
