Just found out i am going on tv tomarow and besides changing my strings tonight ( and shaving lol) my top priority is trying to think of original music to play for a dancer to avoid copyright stuff..
it will be sevillanas and bulerias...i need to change em enough to make em ok to play...that was the only instruction i received...original music...but whenever tv people say this they don't really know how flamenco works, they thinking more well known pop music ...about 60% of flamenco is public domain, it would have to be right ? the cierres, the specific palos falsetas and riffs, the remates...rithm...all the falsetas inspired and simillar to Paco's or traditional
u guys ever played other peoples music on tv ? i realy like playing the samarucco bulerias...what are the chances of Paco de Lucia watching Australian tv ?...my version is very diff, slightly diff phrazing and the end of paco's falseta is changed and combined with Ramon Jimenez...would that work u think ?...or should i change it more ?
i never did compose any sevillanas or bulerias of my own...but i have changed some enough to use
fuc*ng hell just took my guitar out of my case to change strings and i noticed i put a big crack in it (had a gig tonight)...what a nightmare...just what i needed...well now the copyright issues is the last thing in my mind
looks nasty...seriously this is any guitarists with only one guitar worst nightmare

****ing poorly amplified gigs for big halls...and me trying to adjust for it and play louder and tap the guitar louder...didnt even notice when i put it back in the case...night before going on tv...someone shoot me i give up fu*k my luck
also i just remembered i can play this first bulerias falseta....it comes for david cerreduela but its never been recorded on an album and he plays it in the alegrias key...i changed it to buleria key and it ends is completely diff...think that would be ok...for now
yes...it must have happened while i was playing...my case is well patted...i cant imagine any other way...
yes i can still play it...i will just to get through tomorrow...i will be very careful and soft and aware of it...i hate that...to have to be aware and think of it while playing...i know it will be in the back of my head all day
Florian--What was the humidity level where you kept your guitar? I can't imagine that golpes alone caused that crack. Cracks on the soundboard look very much like yours when they occur because the air is too dry and the wood dries out and cracks. And many flamenco guitarists play using strong golpes without the soundboard cracking. Just a thought.
Cheers,
Bill

Florian, don´t worry. Nobody cares about falsetas in flamenco... really nobody significant knows that stuff so good as we do to relate that stuf you play to any CD that is out. Just play what you want. It will be fine. If any known artist would see you playing his stuff, they would rather have fun appreciating a fan then calling the GEMA. Tomatito once said in an interview, that its good that his music reaches the people who like it >>NO matter which way ! ;) <<
its funny ...i just said like a couple of days on another thread how sick i was of guitar threads and how boring i find them....should have kept my mouth shut

I’d like to know what you think about illegal downloads. What do you think about people downloading your music on the Internet? Do you think it’s a good thing for making music more popular or is it bad for the artists?
It’s bad for the recording industry, and we artists like it when people listen to us one way or another, but...
Florian, I´m very sorry to see what happened to your guitar.
get it fixed right away. Dont wait. When dirt enters a crack, it gets a lot more complicated to fix well. I dont think it was your playing causing the crack. Its normally strong humidity changes. Especially after humid periods and a sudden dry period.
thanks Anders, i appreciate it...will try to do that as soon as possible...is it worth putting sticky tape over the crack...just to avoid dirt getting in there ?
Florian. You should detension the strings and leave the guitar in its case, not playing it at all. Find something else to play on while you get it repaired. Its a pretty serious crack. The upper part of it, where it has changed direction is most probably running parallel to one of the struts and the tapplate does that it wont crack more in that direction. But it can continue cracking the other way all the way down to the sides of the guitar. You can see that the crack is quite open. This means that it was because of drying out that it cracked. Make sure it doesnt dry out more. And learn from this. Being a guitarist doing shows, semi-pro or pro... You need at least 2 guitars. Sh*t happens.
thank you all again, i took your advice went in early the next day as to not risk it....my friend steve have been a gem, dropped everything and did it for me on the spot...4 small cedar cleats to be safe, flush surface ..we didn't have time to polish it as i had to run...i run late for the tv thing...but il go back when i don't have stuff on...without that light on u can hardly notice it was ever there

hey mate.. sorry to hear that.. you have any luthiers there to fix it? if not, there's heaps of luthiers here in sydney.. You can send the guitar to any of them or if you like, you can send it to me and I can get it to anyone u like in sydney... pack and send cost about 70 bucks insured to go state to state.. so it's not expensive to send to sydney luthiers...
