UPDATE: Composition Challenge (in reply to xirdneH_imiJ)

is there anything new on this front?
A fair inquiry.
We have been working relentlessly, and finally have registered with and uploaded music and artwork on CDBaby. A few glitches have further delayed the process, but it seems that we should have a dedicated page by this Friday or the following Monday.
Here is how the voting process will work –as described on the website album notes:
PLEASE VOTE: Cast your Vote by downloading your favorite composition in this International Composition Challenge for solo Flamenco Guitar, organized by ForoFlamenco.com. In this 2010 competition, various artists form America, Europe and Australia present their original flamenco guitar solos in this remarkable collection.
HOW TO VOTE: CDBaby will allow you to listen to 29 seconds of each track. You may vote simply by downloading the track of your choice, after listening to these short segments.. However, because this is a competition, we hope that you will download the entire album -which for the two (2) month voting period will be priced at only $4 (instead of $8.00). After you will have enjoyed all eight compositions, you can then cast your vote for your favorite track by downloading it (or more than one, if you so choose) from the single-track-roster (for $0.99). The three compositions receiving the highest number of downloads will be honored as 1st 2nd and 3rd place.
THANK YOU: for supporting this competition and the effort each of the artists has made to participate in this challenge.
ABOUT: Foro Flamenco (www.foroflamenco.com) is a US based not-for-profit organisation created in 2003 as a place for English-speaking flamenco enthusiasts to gather online and help each other with this complex, beautiful art form. Since then it has grown to over 3,500 members from all over the world, from Iran to Australia. Whilst the forum was intended for all aspects of flamenco, it has evolved towards playing the guitar, though culture, cante (song) and letras (lyrics) are discussed frequently.
Its founder, Simon Shearston, moved to Andalucía and hosted the forum from his rural house in Granada for several years, amongst the oranges and lemons of a quiet valley. It is now has a permanent home in the USA.
The composition challenge comes from the membership, as have many previous challenges. This is a great example of an Internet community publicising its passion, and generating interest in flamenco outside of Spain - inspiring others to get involved in one of the most romantic and arcane of musical forms.
We commend these recordings to you in the spirit with which they were conceived - through the eternal quest for aire in perfect compás.
1.“Dark Start” Jai Cuyler (Australia); 2. “Amarguillo” Maximilian Wichert (Germany) ; 3. “Mi Amor” Aloysius Leeson (Australia); 4. “Victor” Jason McGuire (USA); 5. “De Sevilla A Jerez” Andy Culpepper (USA); 6. “Flor” Richard Kozma (Hungary); 7. “Nos Miran” Anthony Tran (USA); 8. “Crescent Moon Serenade” by: Giacomo J. Corrado (USA).

SPECIAL THANKS to: Simon Shearston and Ron Mitchell for managing and maintaining ForoFlamenco, Kevin O’Donnel for mastering the CD tracks, Kozz for the album graphic design and to the aficionados at ForoFlamenco for their advice, support and friendship.

RE: FINALLY it is here: 2010 Composi... (in reply to gj Michelob)
Just dowloaded the final album!
I did have a preview listen to the entries a while ago and I must say I'm impressed with Hem's mastering work! Great job!
Also Kozz for his talent for artwork. (I've always been a fan of his hilarious and bizarre photoshop creations he uploads from time to time. )
Finally a very big thanks to gj for his tenacity in seeing this project through to the end despite the many setbacks which would have made others just give up.
Great entries by all the participants!
I had a couple of favourites a while back, but I'll listen to the album through a few times before I finally vote.
Great work by everyone involved.
I would also urge all friends and members of the Forum to show support to the project by downloading the album (at $4) and voting for their favourite ($1).

Doit did you mean bankrupt?
yep, I meant that.. I was too lazy to look it up.
Well I think you've discovered a great new word in English - bankrot: when banks go rotten or behave in a rotten way (which is pretty much all the time really)

An exceedingly wonderful feeling, I carried this through the finish line, didn't I? but i could not have done it without your , Ron, and Simon's support, nor without Kozz and Kevin's awesome work. Thank you to all artists who have contributed their inspiring energy and music, and a special word about Jason McGuire for believing in this project and encouraging me throughout with great optimism. Finally, if you are reading this, thank you Jim Opfer..... your youtube videos are the reason I started palying Flamenco; thank you for replying to all my questions with your proverbial northatlantic cool disposition. I am indebted to you. Perhaps my Crescent Moon Serenade does not fit the Solea palo, and may place 8/8, but I had so so much fun working on it beacause of ForoFlamenco.
Thank you all for your kind words, I am really really pleased with the whole album.

I'm sitting here with my morning coffee and toast with the back door open listening to this CD. Can't think of a better way to start the day.
I'm very impressed by everyones music. It's a nice mix of compositions. I hope it becomes an annual event, that is if it was not too much work to have killed off Giacomo's tireless enthusiasm. I was witness to him working very hard to make this happen.
Perhaps next year twice as many entries can be forwarded and this could become a challenge that grows.

There’s some incredible talent on this site! GJ, you could be PDL’s tour manager next time around. Send him an email and one of your soulful Tarantas to seal the deal.

Well done to everyone
Thank you.
HolyEvil, the voting period will last for 2 month, until August 15, 2010. Yesterday accounting: 12 downloads for the entire album 2 downloads for Flor 2 downloads for Crescent Moon Serenade.
I noticed that a certain unpleasant feedback surfaces when listening to the downloaded music, which is absolutely not present in the samples -has anyone experienced that as well?
I contacted CDBaby to remedy this glitch along with having the artists' names written on the track-roster following the title of each piece. I hope we can solve these as well.

All I can say is wow. That's one of the best CDs I have ever bought, no jokes. A big congrats to all the contestants and thank you to gj, kozz, Hemeolaman, and everyone who helped organize.

RE: UPDATE: Composition Challenge (in reply to gj Michelob)
Many good solo compositions/players sound like as if there were multiple guitars Well i guess if there is anything it will be solved. There are ways. But not in public.
