is there anything new on this front? A fair inquiry. We have been working relentlessly, and finally have registered with and uploaded music and artwork on CDBaby. A few glitches have further delayed the process, but it seems that we should have a dedicated page by this Friday or the following Monday. Here is how the voting process will work –as described on the website album notes: PLEASE VOTE: Cast your Vote by downloading your favorite composition in this International Composition Challenge for solo Flamenco Guitar, organized by ForoFlamenco.com. In this 2010 competition, various artists form America, Europe and Australia present their original flamenco guitar solos in this remarkable collection. HOW TO VOTE: CDBaby will allow you to listen to 29 seconds of each track. You may vote simply by downloading the track of your choice, after listening to these short segments.. However, because this is a competition, we hope that you will download the entire album -which for the two (2) month voting period will be priced at only $4 (instead of $8.00). After you will have enjoyed all eight compositions, you can then cast your vote for your favorite track by downloading it (or more than one, if you so choose) from the single-track-roster (for $0.99). The three compositions receiving the highest number of downloads will be honored as 1st 2nd and 3rd place. THANK YOU: for supporting this competition and the effort each of the artists has made to participate in this challenge. ABOUT: Foro Flamenco (www.foroflamenco.com) is a US based not-for-profit organisation created in 2003 as a place for English-speaking flamenco enthusiasts to gather online and help each other with this complex, beautiful art form. Since then it has grown to over 3,500 members from all over the world, from Iran to Australia. Whilst the forum was intended for all aspects of flamenco, it has evolved towards playing the guitar, though culture, cante (song) and letras (lyrics) are discussed frequently. Its founder, Simon Shearston, moved to Andalucía and hosted the forum from his rural house in Granada for several years, amongst the oranges and lemons of a quiet valley. It is now has a permanent home in the USA. The composition challenge comes from the membership, as have many previous challenges. This is a great example of an Internet community publicising its passion, and generating interest in flamenco outside of Spain - inspiring others to get involved in one of the most romantic and arcane of musical forms. We commend these recordings to you in the spirit with which they were conceived - through the eternal quest for aire in perfect compás. Un saludo from Foro Flamenco
