RE: Challenge, Advanced Thread (in reply to Doitsujin

Another vote for a judge from me (if it is Ok) is Conrad.

I think we also have to consider that this piece is a little bit modern and some members dont like or let say prefer other old style stuff.
So, i think the participants deserve (in this case) that there should be at least 70% - 80% of the judges who fully and 100% appreciate this style and this piece of music specially.
And Conrad is surely one of those.

Yeah, in the mornings the cat always runs up and down in front of my feet when I'm coming down the stairs and I shout "Yo..git ouddafikin way dude...am steppin here..."

The cat justs looks at me the way cats do...puzzled, but kool and in perfect control of the situation...

cheers,

Ron

theres still time to change your mind todk my invitation stays open.. parametics would have to brake my door down and forcefully remove the guitar from my grasp before i let you beat me... for all the bulls*it over the years to me and Edgar..i dont care if i come second to last in this group as long as i beat you..

so heres your personal invitation....join

if you cant do it with your hands use your pick i dont care

I would really love to Flo, but i cant use the pick anymore, my index and thumb nail wont allow for it.
My nails bash into the string when i try to use the pick.

Im doing well with the conventional right hand technique, but its only been
a month or so. Attempting this alegrias would be completely proposterous,
unless i took the tempo down to 50bpm
Not much point in that.
Im working fulltime now, and studying medical transcription 4 hours a day.
My practice time is virtually non existant.

Still, i will contemplate this over the next few days, and see if i could give
it a try anyway. I definatly dont have time to learn the whole piece, but
maybe i could get the intro and a few falsettas together at half tempo.
I have no idea, i'll just have to see.

Anyway, good luck to everybody entering! Its gonna be fun!

Absolutely!!

How about Errol too? (Flamencoguru)

He's a brilliant player, but only appears from time to time on the Forum.

yeah i know how fustrating that can be ....kind of like i was when i was working in the factory full time, came home too tired to practice and you let me have it ..because i still wanted to stay active...il get my violin...

dont play modest with me pal u have a greate left hand so that evens out whatever disadvantage you think you have...

come out here so that i can spread you out on the sidewalk like margerine jk

btw...its unfair to tell me 2 weeks into the challenge that you are in..while you been practicing like crazy silently...as i said you are my main motivation and reason for this thing

if youre in let me know Asap..i said yes to the challenge before i even heard the piece..when it was just a name...dosent matter what it is if you want it bad enough

Toddk, you know you want in! You will break nails all the time, so cut them and get on with the pick - the pick of destiny! (bad movie btw) I also want to see the Rumble in the Jungle! Flo has taken the hankerchief and in a gentleman like fashion slapped you across the face - now you going to turn the other cheek?

Ailsa, I think you got a "peeps" into your posts - I still cringe when I hear people say that I must admit. I am nobody's peep!

Cathulu,

"Peeps" comes from Harry Enfield's "Stavros", a London Kebab shop owner!.....

Yes would be nice to have him as judge as well. But there will be a deadline also for sending the judge-results back to Ailsa... Conrad is from moderntoque right? I send them 2 very long acurate tabs a while ago... but they dont manage to upload them. Im a bit sad about that. But would be happy if he would join.

flamencoguru. Yes also a great player. Maybe he wants to join if he passes by? He would be extremely welcome as judge or as challenger! Man.. I also had a fight with him in past.. I hope he is not unforgiving.

Doit he isn't gonna know which yours is because I am going to give them numbers instead of names. None of the judges will know.

Haha, thats the advantage of people like Doitsujin in the challenge now, if you dont upload so much like Doitsujin: nobody knows how you normally sound..

I think i have never heard Doitsujin playing something. So even if i would want to be an unfair Judge and to get back at him, i couldnt

Flo, my ears are very good. you have to manipulate your sound with 20 different reverb and chorus effects and 10 EQs and finally through a Compressor and a WAH-WAH effect,,,,,,if you want to stay anonymous lol (j/k).´
Dude, you have to be really nice to me in the next weeks,,,,, otherwise.......you know what happens!! (j/k)

serious ? do you think you could ? with everyone playing the same thing ? same loop ?

u wont be able to pick my sound...the only reason u could is if i did my usual stuff..jaleos, feet, dry sound..etc..usual things i do in my audios..

i will try to play like myself as litlle as possible..considering with how many of the judges i have had dissagreements with in the past its not in my best interest to be recognized conciously stay away from things i would normally do soundwise and playingwise..it will be interesting to see if anders recognises his own guitar

so i got 2 challenges...the piece and sounding compleatly like unmyself..or enough to create doubt atleast

after you score everything...and before its revealed...feel free to pm me your guess..i am curious

anyway i got to go now...gonne research the jury...read backposts see what turnes em on etc ...see if i can find anything to blackmail em with, see who can be "gotten to"..

i know that if i stick a letra of cante in there i will have Sean..

I am always nice you pumpkin

What does it really mean to you to beat a guy who is a pick player, and who
has only been playing conventionally for a month?
Beating me isnt a big deal. Anybody on this forum pretty much kicks my
butt right now. I cant play anything but basic stuff, really slow.

But if it means that much to you, i'll enter, and upload some sad playing,
and you can say you beat me. Then you can gloat, and rant about it.
It'll be good for your soul

So yeah, im in. I told Doit to send me the tab. I just really wish i had more than
an hour a day to practice. Then it would be interesting.

well not if you gonna enter it like that if you enter ..enter like you mean it

if you got no conviction dont do it..i am part joking, part trying to motivate you, part still wanna kick your ass..i am not sure wich part is more important to me, i got confused inbetween all the joking around..

but serious...do what you want...dont feel obliged

its no fun competing against someone who says hes going to do bad...takes the fun out of taunting him with victory and showing bad sportsmanship after

its very selfish of you to say you would lose and denie me those things ...thats bad sportsmanship !

u can always cut your nails and use the pick...they will grow back in 4 days..youl be at your best and i will absoluteley have to work my ass off (on top of what i allready have to do) to put in a challenge

but serious..i saw you do that Guajira video and it looked pretty good, i genuinly thought you had a chance...thats why i pushed you...but do what you like..i guess you are a better judge of what you wanna and can do

Whatever you decide i will respect it, il say no more about it...but if u enter do it because you really want to

Well, you have Anders already, playing one of his Guitars.

You could have Ron easily by deleting one Tomatito falseta and replace it with a Falseta like this:

Deniz is also no problem. Just learn this falseta:

I have also more ideas how you could win this challenge easily. But i have to think about sharing them with you.....hmm, you could send me 2 or 3 sets of new strings and i will think about it....

You guys are hysterical. The beginners challenge thread is like a sunday school picnic, everyone laughing and holding hands and teaching each other how to count to 12.
This thread smells like the changing room of a heavyweight boxing championship!
Well I say bring it on.......Show me the money.....You are all gonna be toast!!!!!(actually thats just a lot of big talk)
Todds strategy of keeping Flo writing pages and pages while he secretly swaps sleeping for practice during the night is particularly cunning though! He obviously read "the art of war".
Just one question...Can we discuss any technical aspects of learning the falsetas during the advanced challenge or would that be an admission of weakness?

incase you havent noticed i like putting myself in embarasing situations where i have talked myself up so much that the only way left to go is down lol

i either go down in flames or kill myself trying to live up to my talking...theres no in between...but the fear of embarassement will give me the extra drive
