That's cool Sr.Martins (and interesting)
Jose is a good friend of mine. I studied with him in 2012 and this last year. I also had the chance to play with him in 3 concerts in Ireland last year. He is totally amazing, I really love his music and he is a big influence on me. I never considered that anything I wrote sounded like him in a way but that is cool to know

JohnWalshGuitar -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 5 2015 18:37:09)

Looking forward to hearing it Lenador!

Haha, I feel that.
I've got half down pretty well, beginning work on the second half today.

Sr. Martins -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 17:08:10)

So far, 8 contestants are experiencing the thrill of commitment (except for Dudnote). [:)]

40 days left to practice & record, 20 days left to sign up.

LOL! Good one Rui! [:D]

8 contestants, those strings, like other things in life, seem to be sliping away from me. But there's light at the end of the tunnel and a secret weapon on its way. Anders #123 is on a plane to Guadeloupe right now [:)][:)][:)]

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 17:59:36)

Wow congrats Dud! Can't wait to hear it!

I've been slacking, work got crazy... I've got the first half down well, just gotta learn the second half....

Crap man, how is it possible that we do everything the same?

Don't tell me that your first half also ends exactly at the x23100 chord on the upbeat...

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 18:05:44)

Hahahahahaha exactly! It's a good stopping point! [:D]

Yeps, a perfect breathing space [:D].

The final hammer on at 7 3/4 is coming out as a beautiful silence more often than I'd like too. Taking 2 days off to give thumbs (and my better half) a rest. [:D]

hmmm i did actually sign up directly after Jimi , but got deleted by Escribano ..
so , I don't know where i am ... ??

However I do have, coming up on the 24th of May a bit of a concert in an International Food Festival ,,, food to sample from many countries in the world, as far away as Korea . etc.. African stuff and a lot of European countries involved ...music and dance etc .. and me playing in a corner somewhere ... I have to play for about 2 hours ...!!... thats good practice .. like playing everything I know and then start makin stuff up .. Im good at that anyway ....

But I got a lot of stuff to get through and it will take up all my time until after the 24th , not much time to learn things ... like this ..
but i will try ... ill see how i get on

You'll still have 4 full weeks after that.

Re-join in, don't be shy.

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 21:25:36)

I think Korean food might be the best food on the planet.....it's not all kimchi, in fact I don't like a lot of kimchi..

Too much similar bits and odd rhythms on that second half...

Everytime Iam about to go there it's like "nah, part one isn't good enough yet, let's polish it first".

El Kiko -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 23:17:41)

Korean food ... what i have tried is very nice , this is a yearly event and Korea is always in ,, as its organized by them ..
strangely Spain isnt in ... dont know why ... the nearest is Portugal ...usually my wife, but not this year ..
I see Japan and Vietnam ,
Nigeria , south Africa, Namibia , Algeria ..
some south american countries like Venezuela , Peru
Australia .. maybe they are gonna bury their food the day before and have a hungy ?
a whole bunch of eastern block countries . ...

its actually a good day , you just get a plastic bowl and fork and go around eating various nick nacks all afternoon .. and drinking beer with strange names ..
By 3 in the afternoon no one really cares (or can tell) if im playing jazz or flamenco ... or can tell if i have a guitar or a banjo ....but i get a good work out anyway .. [:-][:-]

Dudnote -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 23:27:22)

Sounds awesome!!

One of my favourites in Chinese food is the HuoGuo (Fire-Pot). The French call it the Fondue Chinois. Everyone sits around a bowl of boiling spicy soup and throws in to it / pulls out of it whatever they want to cook / eat. The Sichuan version of the hotpot is seriously spicy so a large collection of very cold Chinese larger is essential to survival.

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 14 2015 23:52:07)

That does sound amazing Kiko.

I'm a big fan of hotpot too, they've got a ton of them out here. The really good ones are in the San Gabriel valley(where all good asian food is). I don't think they do this exactly the same in Korea but out here we have Korean BBQ where instead of a hotpot its a grill in the middle of the table and you throw random meats on it till your stomach explodes, bulgogi, short rib, pork belly, tongue, a big square of pig belly comes with to lubricate the grill. All you can eat, comes with random Korean sides, sooooooo good!

I am! Well, any kinda pot I suppose.....[;)]

El Kiko -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 24 2015 16:02:15)

phew ... welll my food festival concert is now over ... 2 hours without a break ...ok at first , when it was quiete then there were lots of people , so it became much more Alegrias , sevillanas , rumba and bulerias ,,, all the solea and seguiriyias was a waste of time then ...
I have become much better at loud Rasgueados without pushing it much .. as my arm got tired but now it doesnt matter ..and arpeggios ,, again quite loud against the idle chit chat of folk ... i did have a small amp but it seemed to get absorbed into the general body of people

so i can have a little look at the challenge ...
doesnt look that bad ....easy peasy lemon squeezy ...and whos in for it ... Jg ? Jimi....

pffff.....its in the bag .....you might as well just pre-write my name on the strings and stuff ready to send to me ...... save time for later ... [:D][8D]

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 24 2015 19:11:36)

Que bueno Kiko!
Still jealous of your food fair, hope you ate a ton of different stuff.

El Kiko -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 24 2015 19:42:59)

well not really i was playing and that ... but after we all went for a beer in a local bar which was really weird ...
Apart from the food they wore traditional costumes ,,,
so in the bar with me was ...a couple of gaucho cowboys .. some Japanese girls with kimonos and them wooden slipper things , girls from eastern block countries with them funny square design costumes .. Hungarian gypsies with strange hats .some Africans from Nigeria .. about 9 ft tall and really colourful red yellow and green ...etc etc ...
i have no idea where half the beer came from i drank. i know the Korean girls gave me some it had MEKJU written on it and Cass..

Like if you just went in that bar off the street it would be like ...what is happening ....
i left after a while but i think it looked like the Gauchos were in for the night ...

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 24 2015 19:58:12)

That's awesome! Like a poor mans UN party! lol [:D]

El Kiko -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 25 2015 12:41:06)

hey, just noticed something on your rulez page of the challenge ...

Submissions between June 17th and 19th to a webpage that will be provided by the 17th and will only work until the deadline. If you want to send it on the 20th, the link won't be working anymore!

17th to 19th of June is a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ..
who has time to edit and record music clips/ videos on a Wednesday ...??

the challenge dates usually went to the end of a weekend ...Sunday at midnight cos most of us a free at weekends to get you last stuff done ...

I don't play well on Wednesdays man .........I need that Sunday hangover feel from Saturday night to get a laid-back sound

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 25 2015 13:14:27)

I was going to just make it the 17th(Sunday) but it was suggested to me to give a couple days for stragglers. So really for us working stiffs it's the 17th.

problem ... unless you are working to a Gregorian or pre-roman calendar ...then the 17th of this June ..2015 is a Wednesday ...

are we all on the same page here?

Leñador -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 25 2015 17:12:56)

Oy, I've been looking at May! I'm gunna change it, I can't record/submit on a weekday either, just too hectic lately.....

El Kiko -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 25 2015 18:03:44)

phew ... I thought my Mayan sundial was out by a bit ...I used my crystal ball to check for re-alignment.

Sr. Martins -> RE: !!!John Walsh Solea Falseta Challenge!!! (May 25 2015 20:26:40)

I don't understand what's wrong with whatever days are chosen.. you have 3 days to submit, not 3 days to record.

Originally the submissions were meant to end by 14-15 so you can use that as the deadline and upload it later.
