r0bbie, I dont consider it stealing, but thanks for the nod. I kind of got my answer early in the thread. Its been fun and insightful watching it evolve.
Then you had 15 years to tell me and you didnt But I understand what you are telling me and if I upset you then I am sorry.
I am a member of this forum for a couple of months now and dont know yet who is doining what. Sometime's I look at a profile to find out who some one is but lots of people leave it empty and then its hard to remember who the theachers are.

Hi Robbie, I wasn't concealing it on purpose it is just that I prefer my comments to speak for themselves. We could end up in a conversation where people say 'it is true cause I play better than you' or 'cause Im a teacher' or 'cause I play a conde' or 'cause Sabicas told me'. When conversation go that way then nothing is really being said. Anyway I can play the thirteen notes a second so I've gotta be right

Look again, I was explaining to Robbie why I dont drop names or talk about my degree or kick off by saying I am a teacher.
I realise I struck a nerve but thats what they are for.
I have lost count of the amount of times I have had a pupil who avoids commitment to the work I have set him with reference to his (misunderstood) reading of what some luminary said in an interview.
As for my comments they are mine, the logic is mine. The defense is mine. The time spent formulating them was my time. They are said in the context of the actual conversation taking place. This is surely from the horses mouth.

I appreciate both your guys points. On the one hand, even if someone is giving crap advice, it is OK to let it stand so folks can investigate on their own. That is why I never understood the common courtesy thing to put IMO after everything you say. To me EVERYTHING you say is your opinion, your own view point, except direct quotes and scientific "facts". Reiterating "IMO" seems arbitrary. On the other hand, respect should be given to folks that are more experienced. Respect not to be confused with blind alligence or butt kissing.
I also agree, even if you studied with Paco de Lucia, or told by him directly, doesn't mean you are right. Maybe you are, but you could be seriously confused about what you think you understand the real maestro is doing or said. So when it comes to refering to what someone else said or wrote, Romerito is right, that does give a lot of validity to an arguement. BUT lets be honest, few are doing proper quote techniques on the internet. Like pull the quote, using a proper citation. Sometimes there a links which is good. It can be "so and so once said..." or from some interview "I read somewhere". But pulling quotes out of context to help your arguement is a common occurance on the internet I have seen.
And it is not always meant in a bad way of course. Like the other day I was talking about the Ramirez book where he talks about varnish and someone caught me miss using the term "shellac". If I had done a proper citation I would have caught my own mistake.

Could anyone explains to a stranger what IMO means? I read that a lot on that forum but I did'nt find translation...Thanks and excuse me if that is not the right discussion file...
