Miguel Salado has passed away

Miguel Salado has passed away aged 44. I met him a few times in 1999 when I was in Jerez doing Fernando Moreno's group class. He was always very welcoming to me and the other foreigners there. He was already a much better player than all of us but was always very humble. At the time he had no interest in flashy playing and just wanted to dedicate himself to cante accompaniment and promote traditional Jerez playing. D.E.P.

This is so sad and unfair. But this is how the world is often times.

Yes he was just a kid playing in the juergas in Gerardo's curso, that was the first year I went to Sanlúcar. The guitar got passed between him, Tino Vandersmann and this Brazilian guy Fernando de La Rue, who seemed at the time the most experienced players for the cante. I would look up old photos but unfortunately I don't think we can up load them anymore here.
