Which finger do you use for golpe during i downstroke? m, ma or a? If your answer is m or ma, it's time to change because it's not authentic. All top level guys particularly from Jerez use only the ring finger. I myself used the wrong finger all the time. Now I have to unlearn it.

total bs. Watch from 1:20, ma together. Personally my pinky has always been involved as well.

Maybe it's a Jerez thing. Paco is Paco. He can do whatever he wants. But he is not from Jerez.
Whatever. Watch just the intro, every golpe opposite thumb is ma, and then on the last compás before the singing he flicks index on count 3&4 but count 6 opposite index is reinforced with ma golpe just like Paco does. Any "Jerez thing" cannot exist outside of this guy here. To be clear, I am not saying you must always do it with ma, on the contrary you see him at 5:35 doing a series of glopes with ring only...but to say it is "not authentic" is not true. Perhaps if students are only using m finger that might be problematic, unless they are getting a good sound. Otherwise it is non-issue.

The intro is a bunch of pulgar-index+golpe which is usually done with m or ma.
Downstroke i + golpe is different. If your hand is relaxed enough, it's mostly ma and sometimes a. But these guys from Jerez do it for some reason with a only. Manuel Morao in your example above.

It has nothing to do with that. People from all around spain do that because the spread of the fingers feels wider (you can sweep across chords with more voices than just the treble strings). Similar issue with two finger rasgueados, the spread of i and a feels better than i-m. Some people like Paco with bigger hands feel good about planting down a with m with no problem as i sweeps across. It is a non-issue is the point. If you start going "look at me I figured out the secret of Jerez" with that standard golpe, you will sound like the worst guiri payo ever.

Hmm how can I waste 10 minutes of my day and generate a feeling of stress?
I know I'll watch several different videos of guitarists finger leaping back and forth at high speeds and try and work out which fingers they are using the make the golpe!.. jeez they are fast maybe I'll use the YT slow down feature to see.... Jesus what am I doing I, dont even care about this topic!??! Actually no I think I will have cup of tea and listen to some calming music or maybe go actually play some guitar!?
Sorry I know we are nerds in here with nails and picado and etc etc so you carry on, but this thread is another stinker devilhand.
