I'm not too keen on the nut (it's a replacement I am sure) on the Conde I just bought. I find the string spacing a bit too wide and the Es are too close to the fingerboard edge, And the A slot is off centre.
BUT, it's glued, no idea with how much glue, it is very firm.
How should I remove it safely please, or at least establish if it needs a luthier to do it?
I fancy making my own, with Pablo Requena's method which makes a lot of sense to me.

Yeah, I knew I should have stuck with the Yamaha.
Did you get it out?
Usually tapping from the side with a small piece if hardwood with a light hammer will break out a nut. But only light tapping. If it takes more that that you’ll have to try other methods. Alcohol used sparingly in the seam between the nut and fingerboard can sometimes solve the glue. Unless someone was daft enough to use a lot of glue. Try a few applications of alcohol dripped from a toothpick in the seam then tap again. Have tissue ready in case the liquid flows out the side.
If tapping from both sides doesn’t loosen it, then you have to go into tank mode.

No, I haven't tried removing it yet. Thank you for your advice, Stephen. I'll wait until the bone blanks arrive and have a crack at it next weekend. It needs a new bridge bone too. Cheers.
In the meantime, here is a picture of the kittens we adopted. They were dumped in a bin when they were a few weeks old. Miss Jones, Vienna, and Basil.
