I found a local teacher who sings, plays guitar and dances. I hope I've finally found the person who can teach me accompaniment.
We started simple. I'm learning the chords to Triana, which I'm sure most of you have heard. I shot a video of her playing it so I could get the chord changes down before the next practice. There's one spot that is giving me trouble as the timing seems off.
(C)Cuando ponen al (F7)puente la (Bb)banderita (A)gitana
Cuando (C9)ponen al (F7)puente la (Bb)banderita (A)gitana
Up until that switch from A to C9, everything seemed to fall on a predictable beat in the compas. Also, in the video, she seems to have an "oh sh!t" moment right at that spot, so I can't tell if it's played properly or not. Can someone who is familier with this verse tell me how to count this in compas?

RE: Need help with Triana (tangos) c... (in reply to at_leo_87)
at_leo_87, that's pretty much how she plays it with one major difference, she emphasizes that last "ponen" going from A to C9, and that's the part that feel rushed and awkward.

If she taught you the strumming pattern (not only the chords change), you should practice this strumming with a metronome or a compas loop. Forget about the letra, just MECHANIZE the strumming pattern first. Your compas feeling must be strong...
