How long is your thumb nail? Mine seems to be too long right now making it harder to play.

clap clap clap. The stadium went wild and did a triple wave that joke was so funny. I need a long holiday somewhere.

Was watching a Juan Martin zapateado vid recently. His thumb nail seems to be about 1 inch long.
About 6mm works well for me.
Just measured mine and its only 4mm, but still feels long to me. Maybe its the shape its pretty rounded. Watching Ricardo's video his looks pretty short.

This is what I got for the 2nd part. I can't check it through right now, but I think it's more or less there. The alzapua was easier to work out, I can tab it in a day or two if anyone needs.

Is that second one Giuliani, Barrios or what? I really need to get going on Alzapua. It's the one technique I have been ignoring, so bring it on. I have been doing a lot of Arp and its really helped. Ramzi, looks like your guitar collection is growing!t

It sounds like you just need a bunch of pulgar heavy falsettas and fills where you're not going to be tempted to 'cheat' with ligado, and then just slowly turn up the meteronome on them. Actually, 'pulgar heavy' might not even be a good description, because it implies endurance more than speed, for speed training you want short bursts.
Those two guitars in the above videos live in Beirut, actually, so I don't have access to them. I have guitars scattered all over now: Beirut, Nashville, New Haven.
The nice thing is that if you combine the money I've spent on all my guitars so far, it does not exceed $5K over the 15 years I've been playing. That's 90 cents per day. Not too shabby.
