Jorge de Zofia A1FC

Jorge de Zofia A1FC blanca flamenca with Florentine cutaway and Carlos Juan Acoustic Amplification system. This was recorded with the usual setup (MXL .009 USB mic). Olé!

I couldn't push it because the neighbors were sleeping...

Sounds nice, is this a new guitar of yours? I have seen these guitars on facebook, they seem very popular with the American fakemenco scene, good to see someone actually playing flamenco on one.

What do you think of it?

Good stuff, I'll look out for that. Quite pointy the cutaways on his guitars, pretty rock n roll

Ramzi,

Sounds really great, congrats. Who cares if the cutaway is pointy I think its unique and cool for a blanca. I always enjoy your playing, its very clean, precise and confident. I like to think of myself as being a year behind you so it inspires me. How did you find this guitar?

Thanks, Joel. Yeah, I agree - it surely has that characteristic flamenco growl which I love so much. The cutaway and the heel are definitely sharp. I scratched my left thumb accidentally on the heel last night. Now I see where the reference "axe" comes from when talking about a guitar. I appreciate your kind words about my playing. I'm sure you are a wonderful tocaor yourself.

I got a tip from Lorenzo (one of the foro members here) who is in the area where the guitar was that the owner wanted to sell the instrument. I contacted the individual and about 10 days later, here we are.

Blondie#2 - yup, this blanca will be staying with me for a while now. It's a very light guitar with a fantastic aroma. You can hear the sound through the video above. Playability is solid. Olé!

Congrats on the new guitar!

So now that you have 2 guitars with pick-ups, What are you impressions of the Carlos Juan pick up vs the Fishman?

I have heard great things about the Carlos pick up...

Thanks!

Yeah, the Carlos system is much better than the Fishman. Here's a quick recording with the Carlos / Jorge de Zofia.

I hear a lot more clarity and crispness with Carlos Juan pickup.

Does it have a dual source that includes an internal mic? That's what value most about the fishman.

This particular model does not. Carlos does carry ones that have a sensor (that can pick up golpes) as well as a piezo. I bought the guitar from someone who preferred this Carlos Juan system with only a piezo. He liked to use a setup with the Carlos Juan piezo and an independent external mic for golpes, etc.

Thanks, my friend.

Good for you, sounds great and have to say you deserve this upgrade from the GK.

How do you find the neck width? I recall you having an injury/issues which led you to buying a GK in the first place.

I actually just realized that the first time I held a guitar (my official "start date") was on October 18, 2001. I guess it only took 15 years of playing for me to get a "real" guitar.

Neck width is fine for my left (post-surgical) wrist. I think the shape of the neck is such that it makes playability quite easy for the left hand, so even though it's a 52 mm nut, there are no issues with barre across all 6 strings, etc.

Now I don't feel so bad since I started flamenco in 2014.
In 15 years from that I will be 72. Yikes!

Felicitaciones Ramzi!!!

U deserve it bro!

And yes it is all my fault

El culpable soy yo

I look forward to many more hours of Ramzi playing his new crispy hi fidelity guitar and sharing those moments with all of us.

I didn't know de Zofia.
I took a look on his Internet page and I have to say I'm impressed on how good he is in showing his work and in making cool stuff.
His guitars seem very good, at least this here above, but even if they were not, I must they look very modern and cool.
He obviously takes inspiration from the former Felipe V shop.

Thanks Ramzi. Have to say it doesn't sound any different to any other UST to me, and these cost quite a bit. They have to be specially fitted too (routing out the bottom of the bridge). A friend of mine has just bought a Maldonado with a Carlos VIP in it, its going to be interesting to compare it with my Miniflex system.

Anyway, looking forward to your uploads with your new baby.
