When is should I do that? I can definitely feel where my golpes land but it seems to look okay... It's probably time right? Obviously the wood is being effected.....
If it is a handcrafted guitar from a luthiere as Vicente Carrillo or something similar (one from the Conde saga, Ramirez etc.) I recomend you first to contact them for their recomendations and then find a good luthiere.

I guess it depends on the person, one who treats his guitar like a rolex might change when it's too scratched and the other one would change it when your golpes start hitting the wood Removing the golpeador in my experience is not difficult on lacquer finished guitar, on french polished guitar I would guess it's difficult. Naphtha, brush and patience

I changed my golpeador on my Conde when it started to break/crack from so many golpes. Probably used my ring nail to much. I've switched to using more flesh from my fingers. No more cracks/breaks in golpeador. When you're ready to change, take your guitar to German Vasquez. Good pricing and done on the spot.

@JMB, cool forum there, thanks for that. My spanish is about as bad as my english so I should be okay. My guitar is just a "Valencia specia" Manual Raimundo so I'm not too worried but it IS the best I've got.
@mt1007 German would be my go to for sure. Before I purchased my guitar the previous owner had him do the set up on it. I'm way to rough on the poor thing....

Just get an iPhone screen protector & stick it over the worn area of your current golpeador. That is the lazy-flamenco's temporary fix (which should last you at least a couple more years unless you're Jason McGuire). Cheers!

That's not a bad idea thanks Ramz! I don't play notes like Jason but I think I may golpe like him! lol

Wait, don't get just an iPhone screen protector. Go search on Ebay/ Amazon for 'tempered glass' screen protectors. They are much more expensive than your regular (under $25). They are as thick as a proper golpe plate and they usually have 9H hardness so they don't get scratched so easily or break. They also have silicone adhesive which is enough to stay permanently stuck to the guitar without any bonding glue/ adhesive. Search for screen sizes of tablets like the Nexus 7 or samsung Galaxy tab s 8.4.
