eamii rasgueado on Adam del Monte Se...

Maybe a general question as well: I believe it was Graf-Martinez that said to "shoot" the pinky out of the hand, but Adam del Monte seems to shoot it from the thumb like the normal amii. I dont have his Rasgueado lesson so I don´t know. I never got much power in the pinky so I didnt do it for a long time, but now I need it! Can someone clear this up?

I like to "shoot" pinky from palm. This is what vicente amigo, paco de lucia, sabicas, ect. all did. They never flicked the pinky with the thumb, always shot from the palm. Getting pinky strength doesn't come fast, it takes a long time. It more about flexibility the anything, training each finger to extend efficiently with a punch. Practicing rasgeados slowly is the best advice i can give you. letting each finger extend out at a time(it helps to do this with a metronome)

Thanks, but I should make it clearer. He plays an amii followed directly by an emaii, it feels very uncomfortable to switch the initial "flicking position". Flicking both from the thumb feels much better, but I never heard of the emai(i) done that way.

I have Adam Del Monte's Lesson. He shows EAMII, AMI, AMII all flicked off the thumb which target the basses and produce a heavier rasgueado. He also demonstrates these rasgueados without any preloading against fingers/palm/anything, for a much lighter and faster sound.

Grad Martinez teaches flicked AMI and AMII off thumb as default, but also mentions one with EAMI flicked off palm as you say. However, he rarely uses it and that would only be for a 'one off' EAMI, you cannot roll that continuously with the fingers tucking right into the palm like that.

Herrero says that when you're doing eami(i), you should launch only m and i from the thumb and let a and e be free (without tucking into the thumb or the palm). He says that way, the sound is more balanced for e and a. Beats me...

no rules necessarily, but perhaps different results soundwise. Physiology may play a role, but I for one never flick pinky from thumb or palm. If not "free" but I want that snap into the basses I will load it and flick it off the side of "a" which IS also loaded a little behind the "m" which IS (along with i) loaded on thumb normally (for that siguiriya style thing). Other rasgueados that hit more treble sounding chords are free and can go much faster as well.

Thanks for the additional views! Reminds me of Bruce Lee: "Using no way as a way, using no limitation as limitation."
