I wonder if Rumbaking will have second thoughts about having Paco sign his guitar after the initial novelty wears off, particularly if he places golpeador material over it to preserve it. It has, in some respects, defaced a beautiful guitar.

Some good responses. I like the idea of having a bunch of artists sign the back of a guitar-not your best guitar. Not only famous people, but maybe all the people you worked with. I can't imagine even showing up to a Paco concert and bringing a guitar. Like I'm going to jump in if he breaks a finger :-) I met Sabicas in the 80's after one of his concerts and he signed the program. I still have it. But guitars......I bought a ramirez 1A blanca for 700.00 in the 80's and it was pristine except the guy I bought it from, who had it sitting in a case under a bed, had his name CARVED in the headstock. THANK YOU Mr. Malcolm Weeks! I still have it too. No longer pristine though. Finally, my wife and I were at the airport when she saw Santana strolling along. We were with my youngest daughter who was about ten years old. She was a skateboarder and was holding her board. My wife said she was going to ask Carlos for an autograph. I groaned because I wasn't about to go over there. Wifey is persistant though and she brought my daughter over and Carlos signed the bottom of her skateboard. My kid had no idea who he was. I told her "He's the guy who plays guitar with Rob Thomas and she goes "Wow" A few months I looked at her board and she had ground off the signature by doing skateboard tricks.

Interesting... My option wasn't there either, I would have went with just a simple "no". I don't think it defaces the guitar exactly, but when I see Paco later this month I don't plan on having him sign a guitar...
Rumbaking paid for the guitar, and the ticket to get in, so its not my business... As a buyer, if he wanted to sell the guitar to me, it wouldn't make it worth more, and may make it worth a little less, ($100 less at most). But he won't sell the damn thing to me anyhow, so I guess neither he or I have to worry about that. LOL
Its a little funny that I have 10 tattoos, but wouldn't let an artist that I love write on my guitar. That tells me that a guitar is a personal thing to me, and that I place more value on it than I do my own body. Maybe I should see someone about that???
When I worked for Sara Evans, (a Country Music star), I had a few guitars which I would go around having other stars sign. One was a Martin which I bought at a shop in Nashville for $1000 less than it was worth. It had already been signed by a lot of country stars from the 60's and 70's. The other was a guitar which was worth $300 at best. After I finished collecting 30/40 signatures I went off to sell them. They didn't bring as much as I had hoped, and in the end it wasn't worth the time I took collecting the signatures. The stars of today sign a lot more stuff than they used to, and that took the value down in my case.
As long is Rumbaking is happy, so am I! Paco should have been honored, its not often that he signs such expensive guitars I would guess. When a man asks you to sign a guitar like Rumbaking's, you have to know that he has a hell of a lot of respect for you.

I went to the Steinway store in Santa Barbara to buy a nice padded, adjustable piano bench to sit on to play the guitar.
They had only one example of the best quality. The proprietor said it wa only for show. He could order another, but it would take some time. I said they were going to pack my furniture to move to Kwajalein in a few days, and I would be glad to pay full price for the show piece.
Without a word he turned the bench over to show me many, many signatures on the bottom. They included Horowitz, Rubenstien, Serkin....the oldest was Rachmaninoff!!

But seriously, i didnt think that people rate their guitars and egos that high. Its a bit strange. Its like a guy buying and changing new strings every week, playing the guitar 1 h a week. In case it being unnoticed: nobody cares whats written on a bedroom player's guitar.

Yes. It would be an honor.
And i am sure it would give me some spiritual help to improve on my guitar. I would let him do it on my best guitar on the upper side so that i always see it when playing. Not on soundboard because that way only other people see it while i play. I want it only for me!
by the way, i would also let paco fuk my girlfriend, if in exchange he would give me unlimited guitar lessons for free. well, only if i am going to quit with that girl anyway of course......there are millions of girls out there to fuk....but there is only one paco .......hahaha

by the way , paco is very horny (no kidding) my uncle was in pacos concert with his girlfriend and paco was trying to flirt with his girlfriend without paying any attention to my uncle.

Actually the guy supplied the pianos for the concerts, along with the bench. All those signatures corresponded to world famous butts that had sat on that bench for a whole concert!

I would not be surprised, honestly! he does not have kids and does not have a wife to begin with, right? correct me if im wrong. his guitar is his wife and thats where he spent his life, no wonder why he is the best

I would.. it doesn't matter whether there is a sig there. and it doesn't matter whether there's no sig.. if you don't like it, you can always wipe it off.. if not just keep it on.

god dammit!!!
i was going to get paco to sign my guitar and come back here and post a picture.
i waited at the back door. a fairly large group gathered there after me. a lady came out and told us all that they were leaving through the front door. so everyone started rushing to get to the front door.
i got sucked into the group mentality and went with them. apparently, the lady lied and paco left through the back. it seems like paco did not want to bothered. oh well. if he wasn't in the mood to meet anyone, i would have felt guilty asking something of him.
the show was amazing though! it was my first time seeing paco and my respect for him has deepened 10x.
