Hi on the back top right side of the body of my SC blanca , there is a section which looks thin white layer, it looks like wax to me, but i can't get it off. It can be seen very obvious under reflective light at certain angle. I wonder if that is cause by my clothes or polishing imperfection? eric
I had a similar problem not long ago. And to be honest, I have no idea on how it happened. I French polished 3 guitars at the same time with the same shellack and only one had this problem. Its inside the shellack and if you want it to diaappear, you might have to remove the shellack totally.
The guitar, I´ll have to sell with a big discount.
It looks like blushing to me, which is caused by heat and moisture. It looks like right where the guitar sits against your chest. If that is the cause you can polish it out with alcohol, if you sand back slightly and hit it with the alcohol and put more shellac on.
Anders, have you tried that? If there was something in the shellac itself you would most likely see that in the other guitars as well.
Yes, I tried that. No positive effect. Blushing is on the top of the shellack. (Thats why you can polish it away with alcohol) What I´m talking about is inside the shellack or maybe on the wood. I dunno.
Its on a colored guitar where dont want the soundboard to be thinner, so for now, it stays the way it is.
funny enough, the guitar I have with the imperfections INSIDE the FP was left in its case for 2 month in a controlled environment. Yesterday I took it out to play it and the imperfection or cloud has almost completely disappeared. I can imagine it has gassed out. What ever it was, I have no idea.
