How about double-posting a falseta - one in the discussion thread, and another in the no-comments one? I like the cleaner, easy-to-browse format of a simple list of uploads.

I also like Ron's idea about the hyperlinks.

RE: Falseta Swop Shop? (in reply to Grisha

This is all getting really complicated.

Seriously, one thread with everything. The only complication is that someone (probably either Henry or Ron) will have to update the first post whenever a new falseta is posted and say what page of the thread is on.

That is the easiest possible thing to do. Ron's works well too, but it means there are lots of threads floating around.

Would Henry like to volunteer for this?

Ron and Grisha: Thanks mates! Glad y'all like the falseta. It's a beginner's level I would say (considering that I composed it , and I can't seem to come up with more complex stuff these past couple of days).

ramparts,

There already IS. (Audio/Video Uploads).

Before YouTube, there wasn't really any other way of uploading stuff.

So what I'm on about, is an index to the A/V uploads section in the form of hyperlinks...much in the same way as your Hard Drive doesn't contain any special folders....the data is stored all over the place, but the computer has an index of how to find and group it all together.

cheers,

Ron

ok how about a word doc file with an index and hyperlinks to either the files on the foro or on youtube. with a brief description of the falseta?

RE: Falseta Swop Shop? (in reply to Grisha

Word docs aren't a good idea since they involve a) downloading a file and b) opening Word which is a big program and can take a while to load. In other words, a real pain compared to just using something on the foro like a post.

Ron, I thought this was about Henry's falseta swap idea, not about cataloging the entire A/V section?

Sounds good, Henry.

I'm not sure about all the stuff you can do with Word.doc files, but whether it's an HTML file or Word file, I'm sure it doesn't really matter, so long as there is a regularly updated and published Index with easy one-click hyperlinks to the falsetas and various comments that the seeker is interested in.

I'm not very IT savvy, so maybe others will have better ideas.

cheers,

Ron

I think this is a good way and the simpler the better, since this is a forum there is already plenty of places for discussions, all you really have to do is open up an area for info and stuff per palo, so if anyone had a specific question you would just have to put the link to that Video in your comment.
if you made it , leave a vid/take a vid you will have an enormous catalogue within a short time, I just wouldn't want the same people leaving and everyone taking,
remember you dont have to comment unless you have something specific/useful to say ..keep it simple....

No, we don't need to catalogue the whole A/V section, but just the "falseta swap" bits.
It doesn't really matter where the actual file is stored, although maybe Simon could make a separate storage Forum for general "random" browsing?

cheers,

Ron

Ron, I'm not sure what you're getting at then. Maybe you misunderstood me? I said one thread with all the swap shop falsetas, not one section of the foro.

My idea is that instead of filling up this thread by arguing about this, we fill it up by posting falsetas and discussing them in here, and then when a new falseta gets posted, you or Henry or someone goes to the first post in this thread (the one where Henry proposed the sweat shop - sorry, swap shop!) and edits it to put at the bottom "Henry's taranta falseta, beginner, pulgar, page 2" or something similar. See what I mean?

next ye'll be calling it the candy shop.

i think i understand what you're on about adam, kinda akin to one of those blogs or forums linking everything from page one. with one post at the top with all the lists

kinda like

Yeah ramparts, that's another way of doing it...a bit like the Foro Challenge threads where all the current info is on the first post.

I'm sure the most important tool will always be the Index, regardless of how it is presented, much like the whole Internet is quite a random place, but search engines like Google etc help us find what we want.

cheers,

Ron

Henry, something like that. My idea was to just say what page a falseta's on but links could make that easier. So for example, right now you'd edit the original post in this thread (the one where you say "got to thinking about a new thread yesterday") and write at the bottom:

Beginners falsetas

Solea by Rombsix

Page 1

Tarantas pulgar falseta by Henrym3483

Page 2

That way there's only one thread to deal with, no damnèd Word docs, no need to Google search, and everything's a lot cleaner.

Henry, how's about we make the thread you created in the audio/video section a sticky one so that it will always remain on top of the page?

Come on Kris, I can't be that bad.
. "On a more positive note", I have to upload something soon in this section. I like it because that's how it's really done in Spain. By the way, nice job on the Manolo Sanlucar FDH falseta.

Depends on which you are selling. My teacher (40 years ago) was so puro he refused to teach me rumba.

This is already a very long thread.. I checked it once when it was new...saw the broken link in the first post, didn´t understand what a falseta swop shop might be and let it like that... Now the tread is very long...and I still don´t understand the thread....

Could somebody summarize with 3 sentences what this thread is about and what is the clou about it?

Doit...

It's Henry's idea.

It's about a place where people show various single falsetas slowly, for others to pick up by sight and by ear.

The idea is to amass lots of playable falsetas from various palos and and at various levels, so folk can maybe browse for something they like or can use.

OK?

Now go back to sleep and we'll give you a shout when something happens on the Forum that you might be remotely interested in ...

(On the other hand...if you have any stories about an incident or incidents that really annoyed you during last week's festive and merry activities in Germany.....I for one would certainly be all ears. Your stories of life's true agonies and tribulations are priceless IMO and always cheer me up immensely! )

cheers,

Ron

I think it's an awesome idea and I will contribute asap
but should the falsetas be one of my compositions or any falseta I have learned before ?
