But it doesn't mean you have to! IMO rather not, let the guitar sound the way it is.
Adding reverb can be usefull for placement in a mix, or obviously room, but there's only a compas track and your guitar...and before you know it, we're all listening to a track which is recorded in a church or large hall. Just my personal advise, or rather taste I should say.

We're still quite some time away but we need some more people who can commit to being judges!
Judging will start November 1. I think the typical judging period was 3 days. If most of the contestants will follow through, I think we will need more than that, maybe 5 days.
Scoring will be based on technique, aire, and compas. 10 points each, 30 points total. However, the most helpful part for the contestants is the feedback and comments.

graham has kindly brought this to my attention.
rickecrackerphoto! you already won a beginner's challenge. you got to step it up to intermediate now, man! you're still free and welcomed to submit an unofficial entry.
RE: ****Beginners Challenge Fall 201... (in reply to kozz)

Really? If I was to win this challenge and you were to do one with arpeggios, I would not even make it in the first 10. But the unofficial participation is cool, you still get to practice and be rated for you own personal benefit... and detrement of the others who have to listen

I won the beginner's challenge last summer . I would still like to submit an unofficial entry though! Isn't there an intermediate challenge coming up soon?

yes, there should be an intermediate challenge coming up but the foro seems to be pretty busy with the quick challenges. once there is some more interest, i'll start a new thread.

Hello all,
How is everyone getting on? I can play it now, with some wobbly bits at a not particularly fast tempo!! My technique is haphazard I know, but I'm so much more interested in playing compas with some aire, that I'm slow to improve.
Am not sure if I'll upload for the challenge, but I've really enjoyed learning it and will definitely include it next time I play Tangos at our monthly student performance in Oxford. I love Moraito and I love Tangos, so I can't lose really.

Hi, same for me here....prior to this challenge I have never played any tango whatsoever.....I only have a small quantity of lessons under my belt in Soleares. So this is absolutely new to me, with lots of listening and practicing...I think I got most of it to sound halfway decent, but I still have quite some practice to put in. I`m particularly having difficulties with the quick hammer-on/pull-off phrase and with the alzapua. Both of those totally slow me down and throw me out of compas. Still not sure if I'm gonna be ready to post in time, but I will definitely try as I hope you will too!!....Good luck!!
RE: ****Beginners Challenge Fall 201... (in reply to kozz)
Ditto, the fast parts are the most difficult, mainly the alzapua and following rasgueado for me. The other thing is I never can play it consistently, errors here or there at every play... I find I've plateaued and I need to figure out how to practice to get to the next level.

Duende is eluding me!!!! I am not grooving!!!! I had one groovy section - just tapping my foot on the one and the three, really groovy and I was loving it - sounding good, and then I lost it and I can't find it again. ARRRGHHHHH!!!! It was such a brief moment... lost in time.
Anybody found a really groovy tango por medio that would help me get in the mood and find that groove again??????????
And I don't mean Moraito's version which is really groovy but he plays faster than I can play, something a bit slower tempo that makes it easier to groove for me....

I'll be there the weekend of October 30th and definitely planning on going to Duende :-) Hope to see you there.
Hee Villain, I'll have to see if I can make it. Monday I'll here more about when I will be operated....otherwise I'll certainly be there. If you can make it the 31 also then after 17:00 its playing tangos and bulerias and everyone can participate. Cajon, palmas, guitar whatever you feel like doin'.

No No... I am all for how "sexy" flamenco is, but on this path the panel's judgment would be clouded by prurient thoughts, as an imbecille-like stare would shape an equally dumb smile, on the judes' faces, each time they listen to "Monica Bellucci" tangos.
Dangerous.
Pizza and Calzone might tickle a more appripriate note.

I gotta say - I really really love the challenges on here. They are good practice and rewarding to work on even when not competing and such. It seems like I always come into them late, but just to practice as if I am going to submit is always great...I practice all the time, but having seen this one a couple days ago I have been playing through that blurb so much my fingers are too sore to continue for a few hours :-) The last one was humbling as no matter how much i thought I had it down playing just by myself, when trying to record it with a compas track, and playing it start to finish for a recording - I was horrible :-) After eventually getting that buleria falsetta down, I grabbed a ton of compas tracks and always try and practice in a similar way. I think I am starting to get this tangos down much quicker than I did when flailing on keeping that buleria in compas, but regardless - It's good stuff. I Just wanted to say thanks!

Is this challenge still open ??/ cos i just noticed it I also see that any stuff you have on 4shared.com is not available as it is marked ..
This file is no longer available because of a claim by 4shared Support Team.
This doesn't matter so much as I found it on-line here , and thats all I need really.
and so I just started to use that as a guide (after all it is him playing it ,, what better guide) The Tabs are not exactly as I think they should be but it may also be from a different version, A bit pushed for time by the 1st of Nov. but maybe I could...........
