RE: Beginners Challenge Fall 2010 (in reply to veet)
Hi all, I'm new at this forum although I joined a while back. I think your challenges are great! I don't know if I would want to participate but if I wanted to, all I would have to play is included in the above 2 tabs, sections A, B and C?

Ok, I tried playing this tonight and although I might regret it, I'd like to participate if it's not too late. Like I said, this is really great and is actually making me work on something else than.... arpeggios whohoooo yeahhhh. So Thanks!

Kozz is gonna go down hard! I am going to claw my way to the top, cause if I don't it will be three strikes for me. So look out! And I'm not gonna open the door for any of the ladies! Ailsa, take a back seat!
LOL
And I hope there are no competitors slumming down below their level, cause I am gonna deliver some whoop azz!

I don't know if it has been defined anywhere but what is a beginner how is it defined? I definitely consider myself a beginner but some people who don't play music think I'm great... everything is relative. Some people play for 10 years and are still beginners...

alright, finally some trash talking! let's not let the advanced challengers have all the fun.

it's all relative, i definitely agree. please check the previous beginners challenge, read the comments, and see where you stand. either way, if it's super clear that you're not a beginner, graham will make a decision on whether or not your entry will be uploaded. we've had this happen before.

here's a general guideline. the contestants have 8 weeks to learn and record this. if it takes you much less time than that, chances are it's too easy for you.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will read the thread. I definitely think I am a beginner, the fast thumb part and the alzapua will be challenging but I will practice a lot until then, in the event I can managed to play it well it would be sad for someone to say that the participant is not a beginner when he had to spend 40 hours to get to play it like that. In any case I don't even know if there is a prize, I just think this a great opportunity to play something different, focus and improve. I already said it but thank you so much for doing this, it's fantastic.

yes, you brought up another good point. you dont really know how much hard work someone spent on something. this is why it's really difficult to deal with these situations and that's why it's basically up to the challengers.

Just to make things clear for myself...and this is probably a daft question...but beginner in this context does mean beginner at flamenco guitar and not beginner at guitar....?

pawo, it doesn't really matter if you've played any type of guitar before or how long you've been playing.
what does matter is whether or not you find this challenge to actually be a challenge. once again, i encourage folks who are unsure to check the previous challenge and read the comments.
there were a couple who stood out as obviously not beginner. if you think you'd find yourself in that situation, you should consider the intermediate challenge.

I am very sorry to say that I am already withdrawing due to personal reasons. My morphine medication has been doubled and this is how I look like when I feel well. It doesn't effect my humor, on the contrary, but sometimes it feels I play a 12 string guitar with 2 capo's on it. No guitar playing for me the coming months.
Maybe I can help in another way, but I am really pissed about it because I already finished the piece apart from the alzapua part. I did at the palo seco part from the Encuetro part which is nice and funky to start with.
Normally you will look like this with to much boose or grass, but this is my nornal look nowadays (ok, in this pic I dont wear make up )

Thanks for all your warming words, it does wonders.
At least it gives me time to slap on whatever is nearby and see if I can workout a tango compas. (complewtely out of compas ofcourse, but hey, I won't notice )
Good luck! I am lookin forward who can play this in the sexiest way around the compas loop!
