Btw. Why do you analyzise Piranha when discussing with me. I wasnt Piranha. You are welcome to analyse, take apart my entry. Basically do what ever you like.... Tell me that my playing sucks etc. I dont care. If it came from someone I respected, I would take it serious, but from you, I´ll just laugh. hahaha
And another thing dude. There are no correct chords in flamenco and your whole crusade about the right chords is completely irrelevant. Flamenco is partly modal and definately not 100% harmonic, meaning that if the singer puts emphasis on a c note playing por medio. You dont have to play a C chord. A lot of the very best accompanying guitarists dont do so. The judges didn´t like my C/B in the cambio and wanted a C7. Fair enough, I´ll try to remember that and correct a bad habit. I personally dont like when flamenco is being played to harmonic with a lot of chord changes. In my ears it takes away what I like in flamenco, its modal roots. Fortunately I´m living in a place where flamenco is very much alive and where the singers DONT like to many "correct" chords

i havent even gotten to the second letra, this was just the salida and 1st letra or am not even talking about phrasing or compas in a cante challenge where the right chords should be the first freaking thing judged and we are all acting like its a litlle thing..its a freaking huge thing...providing you not terribly out of compas is THE THING ...everything else is second....nothing else equals it, no rasqueado, no personal preference on sound, no personal style , no personal preference...the others are important too but none match it in importance
my playing wasent all i wished it was either but dude if...at the most i got a couple of wrong chords.....this is why i wanted to discuss ...not cause its a tantrum cause you playd the wrong chords in a cante accomp challenge aand i didnt wanna make it about you specifically but like you say its been too much about me and you havent had a chance to discuss it...cause i have apparently been holding your hand and you couldnt discuss it..
this is not like any other challenge..its not a solo challenge or a question of taste or style or preference....the right chords is undeniably the most important aspect of this challenge
so dont act like i did it for no reason and its always about me or i am just looking for arguments..its not an opinion its a fact ...you got just as many wrong chords as you got right..
the audio is there for anyone to hear.....now excuse me if that crawled up my shorts a litlle bit and wanted to discuss it further...and i even droped it 4 days ago, deleted my posts and bited my tongue on the topic... but then you had to get personal with me and assume to know my character when i was arguing the topic not the person...

And to repeat myself: I will not participate or judge in a challenge where you are participating... The last two challenges wher you have participated, your whole behavior has been so low, accusing each and everyone (translate: winner, cheating, judges being bad) for whatever wasnt in your favor. Its completely far out and you shouldnt participate in challenges untill you´ve learned to respect the other participants and the judges who are taking their time to listen and judge yours and others entries.

Anders and Flo (and anyone else tempted to join in!) can we call it a day now? There will always be disagreements, and flamencos will always defend their position with some passion - it's in the job description .

I dont agree with you. This is not about flamenco or passion. This is about someone who cant accept loosing and who has to throw dirt at other participants and the judges taking their time to make a challenge possible. In a football match thats a red card and 2 - 5 games out. You call it a bit of distraction. ... Why are you so afraid of putting words on what you think. A bit of distraction telling the judges that they dont know anything........ to soft
To me its clear. I´m not going to do anything here on the forum where Florian participates. This time its enough.

I'm not afraid Anders. It was a deliberate choice because I thought anything else would be unproductive, would just inflame the situation. I want to get back to the cante. Too soft? Maybe. I get things wrong sometimes.
I just wanted to steer us back to where we should be.

well.... i'd like to be in it too! i feel really left out for not being in this solea por bulerias challenge. it was a little above my level and that's what i needed. if i don't qualify for beginner, then sure, i'll be an admin again. unless someone else wants to have a go at it.

btw, BIG THANKS to you jason for everything you're doing. all this is absolutely incredible. being on this forum and on your website, i feel like i learn more than people who take lessons in real life.

I will at some point get yaelisa to do a dance challenge for us. Lets get some cante stuff under our belts first.

Well I guess a player might be intermediate in a playing challenge, but still be a beginner in accompanying. It would depend if you have experience in accompanying or not.
What do you think Jason? Will you include people who may be good solo players but with no experience of cante?

OK, I HAVE TAKEN MY DESCISSION
After having thought things over, a few pm´s etc I´ve take a descission. I will post it here, because I think its the right place to do so. This thread is already totally out of line:
I will have nothing to do with Florian on this forum for a while, I will not reply to his posts and will not comment on his ways of doing things. It will be more or less the relationship that Florian has with Todd. I hope Florian will accept this deal and leave me, my guitars, my playing, my soundports, my dog, my canoe etc in peace. I´m doing this for two reasons, 1) my own membership of the forum is in danger. I dont think this is fun and its not worth it. 2) Hopefully it will mean that the forum will be a better place. I kow that I throw dirt as well. I just get so pissed of when someone is so disrespectfull towards the rest of members.
Also. I wrote "for a while". This because I hope that one day this will be a parentesis and that Florian and I will get along again. This also saying that I´m totally against banning any members.

Its hard to say Ailsa. Anyone who wants to enter should. If you are wildly beyond the other entries in level.... you will get an honorable mention or something like that. And the winner will go to the next one down. This one is mostly about learning..... they all are really.
I wan't some of you that are feeling that you couldn't enter the last one to have an opportunity. Many of you are just beginning to get some of the concepts. We can keep that spirit up and you guys can begin to embrace cante in a new direct sort of way.

the closest thing i have to experience accompanying a singer is me singing in the shower and washing my hair at the same time.
i'd like to participate but not if other contestants will feel it's unfair.

how about if the admin thinks mine or anyone else's entry is of a different level than the others, than they can just pull it out. just like we did with one competitor in the tangos challenge.

Anders: Just to prevent a misunderstanding: I think Flo wasnt on a crusade for right chords, but more so against wrong chords, and yes there are wrong chords, less appropriate chords and (sometimes multiple) correct chords. There are different ways to flamenco and that sometimes does not come through here on the foro among some (too bad). Listen to Diego Moraos Solea on "Picasso En Mis Ojos" for example.. completely different approach.(maybe because Cigala is not from Andalucía )

Deniz. I´m glad you came back to the root of this thread. The Cante challenge entrys.
How many wrong chords were played. I mean A, Bb, Gmin, A7, Dmin for the letras and C7, F for the cambio... They can be played in many ways and if the singers accept it, it should be considered correct, no? I personally didn´t hear so many wrong chords. I heard other things like to static playing (me and others) and playing against the singer (no name mentioned) I agree that there are many different ways of playing and it was more or less what I stated myself. Here it can be accepted and appreciated to play with very few chords if the rest is good. Compás, soniquete, dynamics, playing with the singer etc.
Maybe it would be a good idea to open a new thread concerning a beginners cante challenge instead of discussing it here. I could imagine that there are members not following this thread for various reasons.
