Sad indeed, Peter.

Didn't Blanca change her log-in name a while ago and start logging in under her own name?

Condolences and our thoughts to her friends and family.

I may be relatively new to the foro, but I remember reading her posts. Sad to hear.

We will all play with her someday on the other side.

I think we should all dedicate a moment of our music to honor her memory... a flamenco prayer.

Hasta Luego, Blanca.

her name at the top of the foro page

There has been one name at the top of the page for many years - my buddy Guy at Microsoft, who encouraged me to follow my dreams. He was murdered by a drunk driver at the age of 41 and it broke me heart.

So... I am happy to add her name to the top of every page, if that is ok with you? She conversed with me over the login problems. I am very, very sad right now.

Peter, send me the name we can use and she will be remembered here for as long as we last.

altho her involvement here predates me, I feel sad when someone young leaves this world long before their time.

i wish the absolute best for her family and friends.

thanks for sharing this with us, peter. it is scary to think someone on the forum can pass away and we wouldn't even know it.

i was wondering who Guy was. what a sad story. we should definitely add her name up top.

may Blanca rest in peace.

This is exactly why I started the "when we die thread"...

Sorry to hear her passing at such an apparent young age. My condolences to her family.

It would be nice perhaps if there was some part of the site that had a brief listing of past deceased members. If this site has longevity, this will become a meaningful place. Say there is a flamenco forum in 50 years time - I will be on the list also unless I live up to my plans of living beyond 100! And what about in 100 years - or more? Will all of these thoughts, dreams and ideas will still be around for future generations to witness and contribute and improve upon???

RE: Sad message.... (in reply to gerundino63

i just noticed she has been added to the top of the page Linda Elvira...very nice gesture ..
Peter if possible and if its not too much trouble or is not considerate inapropiate id love to see a picture of her.. or know a litlle more about her..i didnt get a chance to communicate with her much and i think it would be nice to acctualy know a litlle about her rather then just her name ..i am sure youd agree when i say she deserves to be remembered as a person and not just a name on the screen and for those of us who didnt get to know her very well..

this only if its a possibility ofcourse

Simon i always noticed the name Guy Williams at the top and i knew he was a friend of yours but i never knew the tragic circumstances of his death wow...that is terrible

RE: Sad message.... (in reply to Escribano

Thanks Simon,

It looks vey nice.

I met Linda about 6 years on a flamenco workshop in Amsterdam.
She was the only female there and very dedicated.

Because she lived at the other side of the country we had a lot email contact and we send eachother a lot of music and tabs.

Also she was very interested when I asked Anders to build me a very beautiful Anders Negra last year. She was fond to get the foto's from the proces.

Linda was a very kind person, very enthousiastic, and helpfull.
She liked the free forms a lot, tarantas, rondeña etc.
Also she was a big fan from Paco Peña.

I helped her a bit to have some confident, here aim was to perform, and she had perform for the first time, and unfortunatelly also for the last time in a small theater, in September 2008.! She ( and I ) was very proud, it was a real challenge for her and a big fictory.
I am glad that she fulfilled that wish..

I have unfortunatelly no pictures from here.

Peter

Moving through the anonymity of the internet, although it provides lots of opportunities, cases like this show how impersonal the internet really is.

A really sad message. My condolences.

This is what I was thinking to, its been some 5 monts now and no one missed her (so it seems).

A few weeks ago I wonderd about JBASHORUN, who was an active member but I cant find any post from him in a year or so. This makes me wonder if he is still around.

thank you Peter

Yeah i hate the anonymity of the internet expecially here, everyone is here for guitar is serious about it, mature...we spend so much time here and even meet in real life..i think we can afford to relax on that and everyone just be themselfs...upload own photos and use own names.. in my humble opinion anyway...

Oh....I dunno so much....

I quite like it actually.

I like the fact that you can get involved in discussions when YOU feel like it, unlike say someone ringing you up when you're busy on other stuff, or not in the mood for chatting.

Also, folk tend to speak more honestly and more passionately, with a bit less regard for social politeness etc...which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings occasionally, but all in all, it works well IMO.

And you can read someone's sincere and thought out opinions on everything from technique to taste and not be put off by any annoying habits they may have, like sniffing or making strange expressions or having an annoying accent or speech mannerisms, or smelly feet or scratching their arse etc..

cheers,

Ron

god bless her family and close friends at this time.

i had to bury two of my uncles within the space of one week, the elder died of cancer and the younger of a heart attack from the stress of the elders funeral.
i never had been so angry with death or fate in my entire life.

How ominous, that we are always reminded to respect the living even more when we hear of someone passing. There is a lesson to be learned......

It's so very sad to read this, although I never even knew of her.

Oh well, life is like that, and isn't it ironic? We never know sometimes until it's to late. I learned to say to my father before he died that I loved him. It was so important, though it has nothing to do with this except that we must appreciate one another more often.

Death can linger and yet it always seems to come so suddenly.

Oh well, I am glad that she was in fact appreciated by you all, and maybe there is a 'heart' to the foro after all.

Yeah Gato,

I'm getting pretty used to hearing the news that various musicians, actors and personalities that formed part of my life have now passed on, now that I'm getting on in years myself.

If anything, it has reinforced in my own thoughts just how transient life really is.
Yet when we are younger, we tend to feel that it is more or less permanent and sometimes tend to (mistakenly IMO) set our goals based on this illusory premise.

cheers,

Ron
