Your query may appear a dash silly, foroflamencoer, or as if provokingly posed by an esteemed professor which shined comet-star-like quite briefly on these pages, or perhaps it is simply not phrased too clearly. However, it had not pleased the Gods that all men be endowed with such talent as the one you picked to emulate, Paco de Lucia.

to have that technique: you need to have heard flamenco and acquired compas as an instinctive sense while in your mother’s womb; ‘woke up every night by spirited musicians singing and playing bulerias on your porch under the lights of a Moorish media-luna; raised by a fanatically committed father who disciplined you into excruciatingly interminable sessions of practice before you could learn to spell “the cat sat on the mat”; and as if it weren’t enough you need that magic “gift” only a few are privileged to have which separates ordinary from extraordinary.

. the technique u asked about was rasgueado if thats what you were refering too, and u genuinely wanted to know...its on the first page of almost every flamenco book...or if you do a search of it on youtube you will find loads and loads of video examples and slow videos..

also u can check out flamenco lessons.com i cant find any videos from there for rasqueado atm but heres simple quick introduction i just found ..

hes doing 5 fingers strokes, i think Paco is doing 4 in the video u posted..hes doing some other things too , using different fingers for strumming but i think u should probably get used to rasqueado first before u make it too complicated for yourself good luck...keep searching on youtube for different version and explonations etc....

i am sorry again i wrongly assumed u were someone else welcome

I understood you referred to that specific section, FF, but your question seemed a trifle ambiguous and above all it lent n irresistible opportunity for a tease. I hope you do not take it to heart. I am sure you are genuinely seeking advice, and our Florian here can undoubtedly oblige.

Cheers.

Hersoveela... i couldn't remember his moniker on youtube, Sal:

this i am sure you will find to serve as a fine starting point, along with a few of his intructional vidoes on Rasgueos.

Patience will reward you, as Sal says "your hands can get used to do all sorts of odd things if you take the time to train them"

RE: experts pleas help (in reply to foroflamencoer

practice 5 stroke and 4 stroke rasqueado really slow the trick to it is to do it slow , with control, (power in each finger) no lossing control...as a good parctice even extend the pause between strokes

eg.

X ..........A..........M...........I...........I
Down Down ... Down .. Down ... UP and repeat evenly...

4 stroke is the same but start from A

keep doing those slow and evenly until (controled, powerful and even most important) no trying to rush continous aand speed before its time...you will know then the time is right because it will feel natural and sound natural and even...if theres a brake in Evenes its probably when you come back up with the I..so be concious of that and try to make it as even as every other finger..

u get a good continous rasqueado by doing it evently and powerfull and a bitt slower if you have too rather then faster..and digg in ..u want power not those light brushing effect kind of rasqueados

practice it ridicoulusly slow ...the slower u practice the more secure it becomes

hope it helps a litlle

I thought you were concerned with Rasgueo y Golpe.

Here are (from the same Sal Bonavita) a few useful angles:
