Why do it?

Why do I do it? I mean, sit there playing my guitar and thinking forward to some time in the future when it's all going to get sorted out in my head?
I sometimes hear some small thing on a CD might be from Vicente or might be Tomatito or some other, might be unexpected source and I think there's more meaning in that one thing that the sum total of all my playing.
Yet I keep going.
Some nights I play the same stuff over and over again, and I'm just happy listening to the sound of my guitar. Other nights I just want to put her in her box and watch TV.
Crazy thing, this flamenco.

Jim.

I don't know... I do it because I want to be good, to feel pride in having mastered the guitar. And then to be able to execute all the great music that I enjoy and that I want to create. To be part of music and share it with other musicians and people.

I do it cuz i have to. I can´t even imagin life without it.
I get really inspired when i hear music that i can´t understand. Like when i discovered flamenco. Fantastic guitar music that i just couldn´t grasp. What was going on? the rythms the techninqe etc.. To know and learn as much as i can about playing the guitar really inspires me....

Hi Jim,
Yeah, sometimes I get "black dog" days as well when everything I try to play sounds total rubbish.
I think of all the hours and hours I've put in for little achievement and all the wee home repair jobs I've put off for months and months so the wife is yelling at me LOL!
Also at my time of life, the learning faculties are steadily in decline, not like someone in their teens or twenties, so that makes it all the harder.
Yet sometimes I pick up the guitar and just love the sound of a few chords and end up playing for hours and feel in a great mood at the end.
For me, the best way to go for my own happiness is to have no "goals".
I just let things develop naturally as I'm playing.
I never practise any scales or anything, just bits of stuff I'm in the mood for.

cheers

Ron

....JIM...,as architects know,....the answer at your question (deeper than what it looks) is in those words of F. Hölderlin :
"Man dwells poetically on this earth"

I am addicted to playing guitar and I could not exist without playing guitar!!!! The guitar is the second best thing to play with ....women come first

unfortunately, its my worst addiction..if theres anything that will kill me one day, it will be flamenco... I will probably die holding my guitar or doing something flamenco related

Its to the topic from the viewpoint of that lovely lady in the video. ;) ......... I just laughed my ass off when I saw it.. Looks like a fake but..funny anyway. Since the topic of this thread is not really specific, its not even off topic. =)
