Cheap guitar for Flamenco?
|

Hey everyone, I am relatively new to flamenco but have been playing guitar for a few years. I have a cheap student guitar right now and I want to upgrade to something a little better for flamenco playing. I am looking to spend somewhere between $300-$400 on a new guitar. I'm not taking lessons or anything, just been self teaching for fun ever since I got my first guitar. I went to my local music shop and inquired about some classical guitars there, but it didn't look like they were too knowledgeable about classical guitars, let alone flamenco. Are there guitars that would cater to my flamenco playing needs while being in the price range I suggested? Keep in mind, I'm a college student and I don't have thousands to spend on a guitar. I'm looking for a new guitar because the one I have now is difficult to play, especially when barring chords. I first discovered my guitar sucks after playing on a friends and seeing how much nicer it felt to play on it. His was only $150, but he did buy it fairly recently compared to mine. Just a note, I did change the strings on my guitar thinking it would be easier to play, but it was practically the same save it sounded a little nicer at first. I was tempted to get a $300 one at the music shop I visited, but I restrained myself and decided to do some research first. Are there specific things I should look for that are better for flamenco playing? Maybe even specific brands or places online you'd recommend to me? Any help is appreciated!
