Mirabras

I'm going to be learning a Mirabras (dance) some time in the near future, but haven't heard any. I believe it's related in some way to Alegrias. Any suggestions what I could listen to to get into the mood? I might even try playing some if anyone can point me to an EASY tab.

Val,

I noticed you had no replies.
I haven't heard of it before and just wanted to say hi and wish you good luck.
If you do find something perhaps you could let us know.

Jim.

How about Chacón with Perico, Caracol with Melchor and Mairena with Morao?

Open the drop-down list and choose the "palo" that you're looking for, and you'll find audio links to the recordings I mentioned. It's part of the Centro Andaluz de Flamenco (CAF) site, mostly 78 rpm and not the widest choice of artists, but there are a lot of good recordings available for free listening, often with letras.

Yeah, part of the cantiñas family. Don't know how it's going to be danced, but the singing involves a different kind of letra that stretches it out and might make it a bit more open to variations.

Hey Norman - great link - thanks. I just tried a google translation of the letras - here's what they say for Chacon's version: Not sure what mood this implies - it sounds like a fairly upbeat piece of music but .... Maybe this is one of the reasons it helps to know Spanish

And to me that in my mind that I
you blame me
if the people are great and I paid
voice of the people
voice of the sky and go
and there is no more law
that works
Going with the mirabrás
And you're pretty and you're not home
and you're pretty and you have not Casao
and you have some non ENTRETENIMIENTO.
And the head upward
and increase the head
my mountain
smells like muskets
I love you
and you no shame peno.
Tiran bombitas of livestock
bombitas throw from the herd
whether it will be the king of Great Britain.

And even more confusing: Caracol's version
And to me that I care
you blame me
if the people are great and I paid
voice of the people, voice of the king
and there is no truth
that works
mirabrás this.
You have some teeth
granites that are
rice with milk.
What is that sound?
prisoners
with his chains.
I love you
but shame
not what peno.
You mooring hair
with a strand of black thread.
ASOMATE A door Hermosa
and Who told you?, saltshaker
chestnuts Galar
I sell camuesas and buts
ay, Marina
I sell oranges
and are from China
Ronda and batatitas
and water from the Neveri.
You have a lack
when you kidney
call the guards.

If you can you can always check out the oscare herrero series on "Cante por Alegrias"

You got Alegria, mirabras,Romeras and caracoles i think. All with cante and no guitar on one track and cante and guitar on another.

It might be a good way to learn the basic letra
